You have my deepest sympathies. FWIW, we've got the really stupid people up here too (I live in Canada), who seem to believe a mask wearing ordinance equates to being in a gulag for some reason.
...As someone who worked in a hospital for a while pre-covid (we had to wear masks in the operating rooms, for instance) I truly DON'T understand this.
What I find really unforgiveable is that the people refusing to wear a mask (and to wear it properly) are literally putting your (and other people's) lives in danger.
/Sorry, I guess I've just listened to a lot of freedum people lately and just had to get some stuff off my chest.
I feel so bad for every American right now. The situation isn't getting any better, despite what some people say. Here in NZ, we're actually doing ok. In some ways better than ok.
As for closing the fitting rooms, I can understand. If your store can't spare the staff or the time to sanitise them every time someone uses them, then it's the best strategy.
Be safe out there. I've got friends in the US and I seriously worry about them.
Thankfully here in Australia the majority of people follow the Covid recommendations. We've had a few morons protesting about masks and the Victorian state lockdown, but that was to be expected. A lot of them were anti-vaxxers too...

I recently came from reading about Nancy Campbell writing about going around maskless, and how wearing masks is "Satan's way". Sigh.....

I suppose all I can say in response to that is to point to science (not that people like that would listen anyways) and to cases like this one...
