Oh...and please...never ever ever ever give a cat flea meds that is actually for a dog. That will throw them into a seizure too.
You're lucky if that's all it does. This is one of my stump issues, so to speak. Working at a veterinary hospital, I have witnessed all manner of poisoning and the results. Overdose of flea meds is the worst I witnessed, aside from slug bait. People forget (or don't know to begin with) that the main active ingredient of almost all flea meds is a poison called pyrethrin. Pyrethrin toxicity is bad news.
Seizures are just the beginning. Frequently the seizures involve complete elimination of all waste (through every orifice, and with great power), and progress through stages up to and including permanent tremors, catatonia, coma and death.
I urge everyone to weigh their pet at least once per year (more frequently for younger animals) to insure they are receiving the correct dosage.
I saw more than enough pet owner stupidity when I worked at the pet supply store. People Just Don't Get It; this is a living being that they are responsible for, not some cute toy that can be mishandled.
I pity any animal unfortunate enough to be owned by an idiot. :(
