My husband and I were household movers for a major company and always got the shipper's signature and initials on our inventories.
This always worked really well when they tried to claim damage, but the company decided, after a few years to just pay the claims, no matter what.
The problem with that, was that we were owner operators and all claims came directly out of our pockets.
We broke our contract with them and left after 30 years of very few claims on our work.
