It took them over half a year but upper management (the people who never leave their offices except to look like they are doing something) figured out I was going against company policy. I didn't care to wear khaki pants and there for didn't. Not some big deal just I like the feel of my jeans better and I can run better in them so that means less ( Read more... )

I applaud those who are able to swim upstream, especially since, as a Pisces, I try to go up and downstream all at once.

HOWEVER

When it comes to one's means of eating and keeping a roof, with electricity for a fridge-to keep the beer from runs cold--and the computer both working and connected to the wider world, is very much more IMPORTANT than whether or not to wear jeans.

I know you love to stomp on the rules, it's something you have almost always done, but please, for me, who will worry the hell out about you, wear the slacks (it's 8 hours, dude) and the name tag.

You can, if you want, wear the jeans to work, change in the restroom, wear the slacks until quitting time, change back to jeans, and, if you have a desk drawer, leave them in the drawer until a Friday when you can take them home to wash for the next week.

I'm nto doing it to swim upstream. I do it out of a desire to be comfy. And it's nto stomping on the rules, it's exploiting the loop holes. This is not one though. This is a blatant disregard.

I love comfy too, believe me. And loop holes are really fun to blast.

As I said, I worry.

No.. I know for a fact that both a and b apply. You need to remember that even though Tony no longer works there, he still knows a lot of the people there... and most everyone who is not in upper management (and some that are) still very much like and talk to him.

The fact that Tony still talks to people in this company doesn't suprise me. It's just she wasn't to nice to tell me I was an idiot. She did it on a daily basis. As far as not firing me for fear of losing my home that may be true. I wouldn't doubt it. But she ripped into me on a daily basis. Or atleast used me to vent since I have no problem with people lashing out at me if it gets it out of their system. She would yell for awhile and then be done. Daily routine.
