Lucas tweaks Star Wars . . . Again

Most of the changes to the Star Wars Blu-ray version seem practical like imagery and audio refinement. The lightsaber enhancement from their moments of dim light and wishy-washy colour sound splendid, for example.

However, I'm pretty apprehensive of  the (double) "Noooooo" when Vader lifts up the Emperor. The dramatic scene was perfectly executed ( Read more... )

Ah well, I still feel slightly nostalgic of the old version. The one without the added creatures, etc.

I was born in 1983, so I missed the thrill of the original trilogy's cinema release. Nonetheless, my fondest memories are attached to them because they're the movies I grew up with and one of the things that helped ignite my imagination. :)

I still have lots of VHS movies, I will have you know! My youngest sister had all the Disney classics, and I keep them to show the boys. :-D Not sure what I will do if my VCR dies...

They CHANGED that scene????!!!

One of my favorite Star Wars memories from my childhood was seeing ROTJ in the theater, and everyone jumping out of their seat and cheering when Vader dumped the guy down the chute.

Darn George Lucas...imagine if the Mona Lisa had been 'updated' every few years so that her clothes and hair were in fashion.

I mostly agree with Guad. I like some of the enhanced special effects, but the Jabba's Palace scene was a mutilation and several of the other changes were pointless and stupid.

Well, exactly - neat way to describe it. :D

"and several of the other changes were pointless and stupid."

I didn't think he could do worse than messing about with Han Solo's character development by reversing the Han vs. Greedo encounter in the cantina. I liked Han shooting first, because he was a scoundrel with a dubious moral compass, but he had a wonderful redemptive arc/change to his attitude throughout the movies. But, the added "Noooo" to ROTJ, might just beat it. That clip is avaliable to have a sneak peek on some news articles/blog reviews.
