comfort
Tears fall down her cheeks, and she can’t help but think that it’s so cliché when he wraps his arms around her frame, murmuring into her ear.

kiss
He gently kisses her forehead as she sleeps, his fingers intertwining in her golden mane of hair.

soft
They flop onto the downy covers of the bed, laughing as they pull each other closer.

pain
It’s times like these where she holds his hair back and just lets him be sick into the toilet; he always said the alcohol washed the pain away.

potatoes
She’s at the sink washing potatoes when he comes up behind her and wraps his arms around her waist.

rain
She sips her tea with her head pressed against the window, and she can almost feel the rain beating down on the other side.

chocolate
He gives her chocolate on the first Valentine’s Day they’re here, and it’s ironic that he chooses her favourite.

happiness
She watches Amy and Horace and suddenly, she’s not jealous anymore.

telephone
She loves being able to just call Jin and Miles over to their place for a beer and a night to hang out, talking about the future and people who haven’t been born yet.

ears
They’ve been living together for so long now, he thinks he’s memorised even the shapes of her ears.

name
He sleeps on the couch that night, and his eyes are haunted, saying her name over like a prayer; juliet juliet juliet.

sensual
One day he puts on some music to ‘help the mood’, but she can’t help but giggle; he finally turns it off and instead the only sounds piercing the air were their gasps for air.

death
She walks out of the Dharma infirmary, and it’s the one time she doesn’t smell death.

sex
Sex with Sawyer is always rough and hard, like they’re the last two souls on this godforsaken island; sex with James is slow and sensual, like they’ve got all the time in the world.

touch
His fingers ghost over her bare skin, and she can’t help but shiver.

weakness
She could get him to do whatever she wanted, and he never denies it; after all, she is his weakness.

tears
He wipes her tears and chuckles, “Only you would cry at a Disney film.”

speed
They drive without their seatbelts like the devil’s chasing them, hair loose and walkie-talkies turned off.

wind
The wind whips their faces as the van hurtles through the jungle, and for a moment, all their worries are left behind.

freedom
They go skinny dipping in the sea one night, adrenaline racing and giggling like teenagers.

life
It seems that life rolls past them on the TV screens showing the news, and they’re perfectly content to sit there and watch it pass by.

jealousy
Her eyes searches for his but he’s looking at her; she can’t keep the bitter taste of jealousy off her tongue.

hands
They’d sit on their couch, her hand in his, the record player turned on so loud that they could say they couldn’t hear the knocking on the door.

taste
He finds her in their backyard, head thrown back and tongue out, just tasting the rain; he laughs and joins her.

devotion
It’s an odd kind of devotion, he thinks, as he stares at her on the monitor on the security room.

forever
They know it isn’t forever, this playing house, but he sure damn will try and make it that.

blood
She wipes the blood off his face, and he smiles sheepishly, “You should see the state of Phil.”

sickness
He eyes the scrawny boy in front of him as he goes to the infirmary to get some antibiotics for his first ever flu on the island; turns out he’s Ben - he thought the boy looked creepy.

melody
He listens to her sleep, sometimes, and the sound of her breathing cures his insomnia so he can join her in that place of dreaming.

star
Sometimes they’d sit on their back porch swing, take a page out of Karl and Alex’s book, and name the stars together.

home
No matter what, they’ll still think of the ‘real world’ as home.

confusion
She wakes up to an empty bed, puzzled; she gets up a minute later and finds him burning the toast in the kitchen, “Good try anyway.”

fear
It’s ironic that it’s only when they’re watching a horror movie when she shows her fear.

lightning/thunder
They run back home, and the storm’s upon them - they laugh when the lights go out and rummage around for the candles.

bonds
“Quiche, on a triple word square - you’re joking me, right?” She loves having the gang over and being able to bond over a game of Scrabble.

market
They’d exchange what they missed about the ‘real world’ - she’d say the busy stalls at the markets, the atmosphere, people; he’d say the variety of women, and would get a slap on the shoulder in response.

technology
She eyes the box sitting on the table; he notices her stare and simply says in a nonchalant voice, “It’s a microwave - Dharma’s keeping up with the latest technology trends, see.”

gift
He agonises over what to get her for her birthday; he never knew Juliet was so hard to shop for.

smile
As she confesses about Rachel, Edmund, and all of her history he vows from then on just to make her smile every day.

innocence
He keeps his copy of Romeo and Juliet under his clothes in the fourth drawer; one day he goes to bed and she is already there with her own copy, a twinkle in her eye.

completion
She pulls the muffins out of the oven, and sighs happily when they aren’t charred and blackened, “Mm, they smell good,” he says as he appears behind her.

clouds
The clouds never stay there for long - they’re barely formed before they start to move on.

sky
She looks up at the sky and thinks that one day in the future the same view will be filled with a plane breaking in two.

heaven
Their legs tightly intertwined, he takes a deep inhale of her scent and thinks sleepily, maybe there is a heaven after all.

hell
She always thought of the Island as her personal hell, exactly where she didn’t want to be; now she isn’t so sure.

sun
It was funny how the Island got a capital, but the sun, which was so important to humankind, was still in small caps.

moon
She wonders whether the moon ever has a night where it just doesn’t want to get up and trek across the sky, whether it just wants to sit down and have a bewr; she guesses this is why there are days with no moon in the sky - it’s a pity the sun doesn’t get that kind of leisure time.

waves
They sit silently side by side on the beach, waves lapping on the beach; it isn’t til an hour later they have to worry about the tide level rising.

hair
He stands behind her with the water cascading down their bodies, fingers massaging the shampoo into her hair.

supernova
She gasps, but funnily enough, neither of them notice the brilliant supernova gracing the night sky.
