In response to all those Anti-Vector/Cutco posts

If Vector is such a horrific company and blah blah blah like you people continue to post, why are so many of us still working there? How do you explain the 5 digit paycheck one of the reps in the office I work at received last week (I saw it)? Can you name any other job out there that an unexperienced college student could have where (s)he makes ( Read more... )

I haven't been doing any demos in the last few months. I've landed a big real estate agency. They've signed a contract to buy 50 homies a month for the rest of this year at half baby. In return, I'm only charging them 2/3 the price for each of them.

I'm not even sure where I am in career sales. Are you doing any corp. orders?

It's nice to see and hear you're doing well in the company.

I never even thought of doing anything like corp. orders until I did a demo for my cousin. He was one of those orders you know you won't be selling anything to; however, once we got to small talking after the demo, he suggested I looked into real estate companys and agents. I thought these people are perfect. They give out house warming gifts for every person that buys a house from them. Cutlery, the perfect house warming gifts.

To that point, I've never did anything of this sort, I just broke 10k. I asked a friend that unfortunately doesn't work for the company anymore for some help writing a letter to send out. Once I got the letter, I sent out one to every real estate agency in the area. Most of them called me back but only one out of the 50 or so I sent out said YES.

I'll dig up my letter for people who might want to look at it and use it to help themselves. It might take a little bit.

I used to work for Vector in Colorado, and the national retention rate is actually 5% after a year. When you start selling with cold calls to people, it is much, much harder to even get your foot in the door to give demos, as you are actually telemarketing (any part of sales process done over the phone is telemarketing). Very few people are able to make alot of money with Vector, and most leave. Vector plans for this by having commission the lowest for new reps, the highest for district managers during this time (they make the most money off of new reps, who also have the highest sales because they are selling to family and friends initially), and buy continuously hiring new reps. When I was training, they had interviews everyday and hired about 3 on average a day with the expectation that 5% would still be there. Have you ever asked yourself why exactly Cutco isn't sold in stores? What is the advantage of this system versus stores and commercials? They NEVER explain that to reps during training or any other time. People make alot of ( ... )

I worked for Vector Marketing out of the North Shore office on the north side of Chicago in Skokie, IL, and after my brief experience there, I do agree with all these postings I find online that state this job is a scam. Between having to spend $150 just to work there, the 3 day unpaid training, multiple unpaid mandatory meetings each week, having to call in at 8am every morning even if you have no appointments scheduled to check in, and the fact they want you to take advantage of your friends and family as well as recruiting everyone you know to increase the commission check Mike Murial makes, I found this company and their business model questionable at best. It is no surprise that there have been several lawsuits against Vector. They take advantage of students who dont know any better ( ... )

I apologize for the obnoxious length but I worked for Vector all of last summer in Illinois. I was one of the highest salesmen in my office and received a 10k "Rock" at the Summer Conference 2. However, I loathed this job. I would never recommend anyone for this position (perhaps maybe someone I loathed an equal amount). With the economy in shambles, I lost my two other jobs the summer after my senior year of high school, and the constant barrage of letters and calls from this mysterious "Vector Marketing" company looked better and better each day promising $16 an hour and to work when you were available. I will tell you that none of this was true at all. To be successful with this company you have to sell your soul ( ... )

Play your violin. - Doesn't work for me.
- You worked, You earned good money - No reason to bash the company - Does It Make You Feel Good!
- Sure they want you to sell, but just do what you can. Yeah, I got upset with the female above me but I just did what I could & quit when I wanted to me.
- BUT I Do NOT BLAME THEM THAT I DID NOT SELL MORE or THAT THEY TRIED TO PUSH ME. - IT WAS A SALES JOB! I guess you don't know much about Sales Positions!!!! ANY SALES JOB, you will be pushed to sell, etc.
- Since You feel this way - SO NOT WORK IN SALES!!!
OR anywhere else you don't want to be pushed to do better.
--The Problem with SO MANY YOUNG PEOPLE - they don't want to work hard.
- Good Luck in your future job searches.

apparently cutco spies post these kind of comments lol.....but seriously its not that people are bad salesmen or lazy its just that we don't want to be unethical and take advantage of our family and friends.
