Thank goodness for the 'friends page' since otherwise no one would ever read my blog, cause I never post.

Well, is all that is about to change?  No, not really, but hey I've got a few things to share!

Steampunk is really popular up here at MIT too (surprise, surprise), but this weekend at Readercon a bunch of the writers were already trying to figure out what the next thing might be, since steampunk is already teetering on the cliché. Still, I really like it too -- you should check out an Australian animated film called THE MYSTERIOUS GEOGRAPHIC EXPLORATIONS OF JASPER MORELLO ( http://www.jaspermorello.com/ ) and the new STEAMPUNK anthology edited by the VanderMeers ( http://www.amazon.com/Steampunk-Ann-VanderMeer/dp/1892391759/ ). Wonderful stuff!

Well, yeah, 'almost cliche' is usually approximately when I hear about things. :P No one accuses me of being cutting edge, even living in LA. And as always, the big cities get over these things quickly, often before the small places have even heard of it. Any consensus on the next thing?

I think the most California activity of yours is being an extra in a movie! LOL!! But perhaps that is my incorrigibly East Coast mindset. I want to see your five seconds of fame!

It did seem like the quintessential LA thing to do - that was pretty much my whole reason for doing it! I'll let you know if it ever manages to be distributed. It was a pretty low budget indy thing... we'll see. If it does make it out, it'll be terrible anyway.

Story line: Teen girl runs away from bad family situation, gets taken in by a group of street kids with a band, and befriended by an old Jazz/Blues guitar player/record store owner guy who teaches her guitar. In the end she sings about how 'typical' she is and we are all supposed to be awed and amazed by her artistic depth... AWESOME!
