OOC: Ponderings

Alrighty! So I have been keeping up with the Runaways thread (naturally) and I have become quite curious about something. Chase called up Molly as a blip on the radar. This is all well and good, as Molly must definitely be found eventually, but it calls a few things into question that I think should be answered for future reference in RP ( Read more... )

I think it's safe to say that Kenny Kenneth has got some powers/technology obscuring Nico from tracking. As for the sattelites? Well, whichever plotitis form works better. Piggybacking SHIELD sounds good cause seems like it's in the Leapfrog's capabilities.

Obscuring just Nico or everything including Karolina's bracelet?

We'll have to confer about that. After all, Karolina's bracelet is otherworldly.

Well, my thought there was that metals are generally found in the ground anyway, so any technology they might have that can pick up trace metals has got to be able to penetrate layers of rock/soil/whathaveyou. So if the Leapfrog CAN trace that (Karolina hasn't gotten an answer yet ^^) then the barriers in the way shouldn't be too much of a hindrance.

I have no idea what Eric had in mind, so I was pretty much making things up as I went when I had Victor mention GPS, but I think we can actually theoretically work with that: GPS is used to detect the location of specially-designed receivers, but with adequate technology and know-how who's to say that a person (or the Leapfrog) couldn't hack into a public or military GPS satellite network and use it to find an object of a given shape? In Marvel's fictitious and obviously slightly more advanced reality, anyway.

We could also say there's some little tracker thingy in Molly's hat, but that would raise the question of why there's not a tracker thingy in any of Nico's clothes, so I'd rather avoid that idea.

It wouldn't be able to work once Molly goes inside (or if it did it wouldn't work as well) and the Leapfrog probably couldn't do a whole lot else while it's doing the GPS hacky thing, and if they borrow the military's GPS they're likely to bring unwanted attention to themselves, but it could get them a lot closer to finding everyone ( ... )

They could go back. Cassie wouldn't mind tagging along for a bit to check out her old stomping grounds.

*laughs* A tracer in Molly's hat! Kar's mun had mentioned just that at one point when I presented a little of these ponderings to her! But you're right, if her hat, why not Nico's clothes? The only explanation I can see here is if they got worried when she disappeared in the issue focusing on her and decided to tag her for just in case in the future. But that doesn't seem their style; I'm pretty certain Gert at least would object to using the Big Brother tactics of their parents.

I think the piggybacking idea is starting to look like the most feasible. Or maybe I just like it for the prospect of future plotlines involving SHIELD coming down on them. ^^ I definitely agree that it would take a lot of juice from the Leapfrog, though. Another reason why it must be left behind?

Who said there wasn't a tracer in Nico's clothes?
