a long weekend

well i finally got some sleep today. it was great! saw sin city last night with eric, the cinematography was cool but the moive was, ehh ok. not really my type of movie i guess, but the amount of symbolism was a bit overwhelming. there's gonna be volumes of criticism written on this one

i don't have much respect for the catholic church but it's kinda unfair to call this pope a nazi...when he was a child he got roped into the hitler youth, as did virtually every other fella his age in germany...that's what i've read, of course...heidegger (sp?) did something like the same...paul de man also cuddled up to the nazis....the point i'd make is that we all did stuff as kids ( he wasn't a teen, i hear, he was a child)we probably shouldn't have...i used to watch The Waltons, for example.....if i ever become pope someone might make a shirt that says THE POPE IS A JOHNBOY WATCHER!

although he was a gun tote'n member of the nazi army, who claims he never shot a soul, like i believe that... and he was not a teen when that occurred. also at the time there were people, even young people (ie teens ) who resisted because they thought that fascism was wrong. how come he wasn't a part of that? people should be held accountable for their mistakes, because we all have choices, that is freewill. people can have turn arounds of course, but think he went from nazism (which executed millions of people (jews or otherwise) to the catholic church who has been know for over 2,000 yrs for doing the same.

ps i am a teen and even when i was 10 i would have never dreamed of joining the hitler youth, just like i refused to go to church, because i didn't believe in it... so i resisted.

he only joined when it became mandatory...i'd like to see the evidence on the number of people who refused to join the hitler youth once it became mandatory, i read hitler's willing executioners and the rise and fall of the third reich...as i said i am a hardcore atheist to the bone but it's a cheap shot to call him a nazi (a bastard who was the last pope'e ideological strongman and enforcer, sure, a bastard who did not speak out against Cardinal Law when he was shifting around pedophiles, sure a bastard who will do nothing for women or gays...)...but a nazi is just a cheap backhanded shot that reduces the person amking the shot to submoron level..there is SO MUCH more to be said about this man
