"Pretty all right" is the set point I look for in my life. It's not a bad place to be. You can live there indefinitely. For me (and, I think, for most people) actively happy is something happens now and then in bursts. Sometimes for a reason, sometimes not. And that's great. And it's important to pursue those moments whenever reasonable. But I can't and don't expect to feel that way all the time. For most days, "all right" is enough.
If you're unhappy, something needs to change (Maybe in your life, maybe in your expectations. Maybe both). But if you aren't UNHAPPY, fretting about "Am I happy?" will just MAKE you unhappy.
I guess I need to think of more things to cheer myself up. "look on the bright side" n' junk. Couldn't hurt. Take a little bit of time today to do something that makes you happy. Check Cute Overload. Take a bath. Talk to a friend. Plot character doom (Wait... that's me:p) Whatever works for you

I sometimes have to remind myself that its more than worth the effort to go out of my to do something for myself. (I'm pretty much guilty of having a chronic case of the lazies

I did have a look at the daily squee and I felt better. Maybe I'm getting better at "getting over it".
