I'm having anxiety right now. Strangely enough, I'm not having any symptoms like heart-weirdness or tummy-ouchness. I'm just really ... worried. And sad. ( Read more... )
one thing that worked for me with scar tissue (when my navel piercing rejected) is making a thick aspirin paste to put on it. just take 2 or 3 aspirin, crush, add a few drops of water at a time and mush into paste. I think I did it once a day for two weeks, sometimes every other day, and rubbing a bit of olive oil on it in between. YMMV.
'big' scars, I have no idea. Mine was about the size of a pencil eraser I think. I heard about it on bmezine.com. You wait until it is really healed, then give it a try. It helps improve blood flow to the scar , and the acid breaks it down a bit. Its normal for it to turn a bit red, but bleeding or itching would not be normal (at least for me since all I have to go on it my own experience). I still have a scar there, but it is no longer a huge lump.
for moisturizer, you can't really go wrong with olive oil. I used to rub it on with a q-tip. I also swear by La Roche Posay Body Balm (I switched to it when I started reacting to everything but olive oil or vaseline) but it isn't cheap.
Some people swear by breaking open vitamin E capsules on scars, if I remember correctly, but I've never tried that myself.
Baby oil is nasty stuff, almost all brands are all mineral oil, which pisses off sensitive skin to no end. I think cocoa butter would probably be a better choice if you need a heavy duty moisturizer again.
Now I see that. I got nasty bleedy blisters! I don't think it needs to be moisturized, I was just so paranoid it would scar and I heard keeping it moist would help. I just made it worse.

Where did you hear this trick?
Will it really work on big scars?
