It was described to me online as a 20% Manager and 80% science position. When I went to the interview they described it to me as 50/50. And the person who was currently in charge of the managerial stuff, looked absolutely desperate to get rid of the chore. 50% manager stuff is too much for me. I have no interest in it at this point in my life. Gimmie science! They also require a commute to the vivarium. Despite being in a building WITH a vivarium in the basement, all their animals are housed in an entirely different county. Which pisses me off.
Makes sense to me. I wouldn't just want to be a manager either. Though, it does tend to pay better...
You should be flattered that they are seriously considering you for this job (which sounds like it involves more responsibility) but that doesn't mean you have to take it, even if they offer it to you.
Or you could take it, see if you grow into is and keep looking for other jobs.
Or, they could hire someone who actually wants the job and you wont have to worry about it.

So, I really don't want this job.
