Hi guys! I'm still in Flordia, and right now I'm with my grandparents at their fancy summer apartment. Since I managed to grab a hole of my mother's laptop, I thought I'd go ahead and tell you how my Disney day went. (cause, really, I'm gunna be here another week but nothing will top disney. EVER.) And when I am home, I can share all the pictures.
Anyway! We went March 1st. We brought one of my old backpacks for souviners and such. I brought along my Pirate Mickey plush (that's the one you got me, Cici~) and my camera. At the hotel we stayed in, we had a shuttle take us directly to epcot, and we rode the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. Mom was a mess, as she hadn't gotten her coffee yet. I managed to buy an autograph book before the welcome party started, and when the park was opened, it was a zerg rush! I actually tripped over myself because I didn't expect to see the characters up close so soon - as in not even inches away!
Me: Wow, would you look at Main - OH MY GOD IT'S ALICE ALICE AL-GAAAAAAAH - *which is the sound you make when you try to stay upwards while tripping over your own feet, turning around, walking backwards, and then tripping AGAIN because-* ALADDIN CHIP DALE MOM LOOK LOOK GAAAAAHA-
Once I managed to get my balance, we headed right for the bakery so mom could get her coffee. At first, we were following things straight out of this book I had gotten, which was a basic 'how to have a disney vacation' kinda thing. We went to the theater so I could see Mickey and Minnie - and let me say here that we never waited more than five minutes, if that, for ANYTHING. Even when the signs said 20 or 30 minutes, it never happened! The lines went quickly! It was wonderful. Now, waiting in line for Mickey and Minnie, I had mere minutes to teach mom how to use my camera. She kept trying to say things like 'they should have another guy in costume in a second room to make things go faster' but I kept shouting STOP RUINING THE MAGIC.
When we were next in line, I just started shaking. I was just overcome by sheer excitement. It was Mickey and Minnie! I don't even think I got to meet them when I went to the parks as a little kid. I had speeches prepared, ready to thank them for all they've done for me, but the minute my turn was up, I could barely get any words out. I stammered a hello, and the next thing I knew, I was in Mickey's arms. It was... so warm, and beautiful. I could have easily started crying. Then I was in Minnie's arms, and I kept trying to speak, but every time I just burst into high pitched giggles. I had absolutely no control over myself. They noticed my plush, and just adored him! Minnie even gave him a kiss! The photographer asked about him, and I managed, just barely, to speak up. "I got him for my birthday last year from one of my best friends. I had to bring him." The photographer asked if the pirate ever got into any trouble, and I was ready to answer, but Mickey was already holding him up and playing with him, so I couldn't say a thing - I was laughing so hard! When I managed to collect myself again, I asked for their autographs. Mickey went first, but then he dropped the pen. I swooped in, picked it up, and handed it right over to Minnie, saying it was her turn. I got kisses from both of them, and really great Photopass pics of the whole thing. I need to scan them in, because they're so cute. Eventually, we had to go, and I kept saying 'Thank you' over and over and over again. Happiest moment of my life, ever.
I wanted to go see Daisy and Pluto next, as they were outside and greeting people, but mom said if we wanted to get all we wanted done, we couldn't wait in line. I agreed, as we had a plan to stick to. Alas, we never got any other character's autographs, as the lines were always too long, but I'm keeping the book, for the next timee I go, whenever that is. Also, the day we went was gorgeous - perfect weather! My mom also asked just about every employee we met where they came from, as she wanted to find someone from New Jersey (our home). Alas, we didn't, and I figure she was looking for them to try and get a good word for me in ;P We headed towards Adventureland first, and got on every ride and show we wanted.
The Jungle Cruise - My cousin Stevie used to work there, lucky bastard. It was fun, and Mom kept accidentally getting wet. We weren't wearing our bathing suits, so Mom said we would make Splash Mountain the very last ride. However, we wound up getting wet on so many rides! The best part of the cruise was near the end, when an Elephant was looking ready to spray water out of its nozzle, and mom ducked right away. Of course, nothing happened =P
Pirates - Mom told me that when we were little, my older sister Ally was afraid of this ride. I can see why! I'm so surprised with what they can get away with - men being drowned, women being auctioned, it was bizzare and great. I pointed out where Jack Sparrow was to my mom, and she was stunned at how realistic they made him. At one point, she believed a man in a Sparrow costume was actually there, instead of a puppet. Since the end of the ride was a gift shop, Mom was worried people would think we stole my Pirate Mickey plush from there =P of course no one suspected a thing.
Enchanted Tiki Room - All the birds sing words and the flowers too, in the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki room~ how can you not love something this cheesy? I'd forgotten how alive it could be. Parts of the wall and scenery burst into life, startling and entertaining me. I mouthed along to the words and did a little dance, and I think Mom was giving me the stink-eye for it. It would be something she had to get used to - I wound up singing on other rides!
The Magic Carpets of Aladdin - Mom at first really liked this ride, as it was a great view from above. It has a control stick so you can go up or down, and Mom planned to just bask in the sun while I had my fun. Then, out of nowhere, we were splashed! Mom yelped, and we looked around - one of the camel statues was spitting water! Now I had to try and manuver it so we didn't get splashed anymore! XD
Siwss Family Robinson - What a walking workout. It was very interesting to see the water contraptions and the little rooms. Some of you may not know this, but for the past 2 or 3 months, I've been doing exercise in the basement, as I'm very weak and walking around for a long period of time could tire me. I didn't want to stop for rest at Disney, so I exercised every day until it was time to leave - and it really paid off! I never needed to rest! Mom and I were very proud.
We spotted Jasmine and Aladdin, and took a photo to send to Ally (jasmine is her fav princess) to make her jealous. We looked around in the shops, as Mom was tempted to get stuff for my sisters, but didn't. We also sent pictures to the rest of the family. Maddy (youngest sis) was especially pissed - she thought Mom was in Flordia on business, not a vacation. We went her a picture of the castle... it turned out she got it during her midterm exam as it was snowing outside XD Now every time we text her for anything, she replies with "I hate you." Ah well, with that done, we headed for Fantasyland!
It's A Small World - Mom says this is her favorite ride, and we agreed the song would never leave our heads. We managed to snag some pictures - Mom got one of French cancan girls and sent it to Steph (oldest sister) and told her maybe that could be her new job =P I'm amazed at all the money in the water. How much do you think they 'earn' in water money? It was so cute to hear the excited family behind us naming every country we passed. We also spotted a Buzz Lightyear in the water, with Mom quipping "I feel bad for whatever Mom had to put up with that aftermath..." We waved to people, and I made sure to make Pirate Mickey wave to the little kids.
Mickey's Philharmagic - A wonderful show! The 3D was amazing, and of course, we got a little wet again =P The little kids around us squealed with delight to see Tinkerbell. The screen was gigantic, and how could you not sing along? Some of you may not know, but in the original Sorcerer's Apprentice, Donald was going to play that part, but then it was given to Mickey. Now in this short, he gets to play the role he was denied, and you could say Mickey is the new Yen Sid ;) Aw Mick, you're all grown up... *sniffle* As we left, Mom found a woman who was searching the floor, trying to find a pacifer. Mom pointed out that her baby still had it in his mouth =P
Snow White's Scary Adventures - We got swamped with bugs in the line wait. I had forgotten how fast that ride can go! And ya gotta admire a ride that actually tells you in the title that it'll scare your kids =P
Mad Tea Party - I tried taking a picture of the mouse in the teapot, but everytime I missed him, the little stinker. Mom was worried about this ride (as I tend to get sick easily) but we decided to take the risk. I had no idea it could spin that fast - and I really put my arms into it! Then as we spun, I spotted Alice and the White Rabbit. I tried to point them out to my Mom, but she couldn't see 'cause we were going too fast! XD And I never got sick! We ate at the Starlight Cafe afterwards, delicious grilled chicken sandwhich, and spotted Rapunzel as we headed towards Tomorrowland.
Dumbo was closed, and we wanted to try Peter Pan, the Merry Go Round, and Winnie, but all three were way too packed, 45 minute waits. Mom tried to shop around for Tigger things, and we grabbed some snacks (caramel corn, which is still waiting for me in my room.) In Tomorrowland, I pointed out the talking trash cans, and we saw Chip and Dale in silly space uniforms.
Monsters Inc Laugh Floor - I knew nothing around this show, so I was in for fun. It's an interactive show, where they do jokes on the spot with people in the audience. In fact, the chosen were all around us - if we had moved maybe one or two seats over, we could have easily been in the spotlight! The people chosen played along pretty well, except for a very shy girl, but she was cute too.
Stitch - This is the ride that replaced Alien, which makes me glad because I always considered that ride one of the most terrifying. There was a robot with a voice actor Mom has been driving herself crazy trying to remember. It was a very entertaining little romp, and the Stitch mechanics were amazing.
Buzz Lightyear - I proudly kicked Mom's ass on this shoot-em-up ride. I can't remember the exact number, but I got over 10,000 more points than her... and I was not a gracious winner XD
Me: AW YEAH LOOK AT ME GO
Mom: How do you work this -
Me: I JUST HIT 10,000 SUCK IT
Mom: So do I press this -
Me: AHAHAHA I AM THE BEST
We argued over titles once it was over. We browsed around the shop, and I watched a shop worker with a young kid, trying out his new lightsaber. "We have a new Jedi in training here. A mini Yoda... well. Mini-er."
Carousel Of Progress - It felt so good to see Walt again, on little TVs before we got in. It was so interesting to see how far we've come in all those years, and what progress really means. I wound up whistling the song every time we went up the years. Mom kept laughing whenever they talked about how long it took to do laundrey, since she's always complaining about it back home ;) It was also around this time she needed a second coffee boost. I had a coke with me at all times, so I was never too tired or thirsty. I kinda rish Roger kept the mustache at the final 'scene'.
We hit all the parades, but for the sake of order, I'll keep going with the map. We went to Liberty Square and Frontierland, and it was around there I had to buy new batteries. By then I had taken over 100 photos! XD Mom went to the Christmas Shop, where she bought a lovely red mickey-shaped ornament with park attractions on it for her friend. Mom loves Christmas stores, ornaments especially.
Uh-oh, I have to go back to the room - we're having dinner with my cousins! I'll have to update with the rest of the trip another time. See you later!
