silence the moon sends squares of light through the back window casting shadows on the wall and everything is silent because that is how its always been or at least thats how it seems the sky lays endless, broken only by clouds and a handful of stars it stretches every way beyond but the window keeps it out a box of high ceilings and wooden floors and no sky in sight save the one outside silent. the moon throws squares of light on the wall casts shadows and nothing moves.
The light broke at the most exact right angles, forming a harsh beam. A square. The moon lost its curve. Exact and precise. The squares of light were on the walls, shone through from the window, the bars across it making the straight line.

I couldn't see them any more, not really. I looked over the lake and they had become squares of light, far more beautiful and serene than they had ever been before. I understood they were just memories now and while that should have been a tragic realisation I walked away feeling as if some sort of resolution had taken place. I knew now that whatever happened I would know they were always there with me, trapped in the innocent bliss of the light.
She sat on the stairs. For how long she didn't know. She didn't know if she was thinking or if she was just observing. She could feel the dust of the wall against her shoulder as she leant on it; watching the coloured squares of light shining through the glass panes and slowly moving across the wall to warm her bare feet. They left pale green and blue and red tracks across the wall; like painter's smudges on a blank canvas.
