Character Name: Ethan Lucisano (surname provided only for Outside operations)
Age: 27
Suit/Rank: ♠7
History: Ethan was born into the Deck six years before King David came to power. A child with a long bloody lineage, Ethan was marked by the old king to be given to training for his "next generation of assassins", despite his mother's adamant refusal. Ethan's father, a loyal supporter of the sadist monarch, stifled his wife' s protests with his blade, a horrifying scene Ethan himself witnessed. Powerless against his father's adamant insanity, the boy had no choice but to follow the orders of his patron and his monarch, although he never forgot nor forgave either.
Then came the upheaval of court power; the warring factions of the Spades embroiled the kingdom in turmoil. David triumphantly seized the throne, but the conflict left many scars amid the survivors. In his wisdom, King David assessed these "next-gen assassins" and, determined to stop such abhorrent practices, found guardians for the children orphaned in the struggle. Ethan was placed with a mid-Deck couple, but he remained aloof from his foster parents, reserved and almost cold. He excelled in his studies, expressing aptitude for languages and continued his weapons training mostly on his own.
Despite his reserved nature, Ethan nevertheless presented a calm, pleasant countenance to the rest of the world, but within a tempest brewed. It exploded when a chance remark from a schoolmate left the boy dead in a closet the following morning, exsanguinating from a severed jugular. As chance had it (or was it random chance?), Ethan's foster father discovered the boy's body and when confronted, Ethan willingly confessed. Ethan's guardian, one of the castle's guardsmen, took him before King David, who, although he still administered chastisement, saw potential and thus began Ethan's second education, in service of his King.
For the next eight years, Ethan served the Spades, moving up through the ranks and honing his skills to an even finer edge. In his twenty-fourth year, King David sent him abroad, smoothly insinuating the youth into the Italian mob for reasons of his own, Ethan picking up Outside skills, customs, colloquialisms, culture and technology, naturally diving headfirst into the realms of weaponry and combat, learning from every teacher he could procure. Two years he flourished Outside, but was summoned back at the King's direction. He remained in the Deck for approximately five months, until frictions between him and his foster father all but ruptured their relationship and Ethan again left the Deck, this time of his own volition.
He has been working as a professional hitman, utilizing his vast network of Outside contacts and deadly skills to "pay the bills", but has found no peace nor peace of mind in his voluntary segregation. Therefore, it's finally time to come Home and get on with the business of being a Spade and growing up, regardless of circumstance
Personality: Charming, flamboyant, smooth, refined, polished, he's anything required of him. Ethan is a chameleon, empty as a mirror most of the time. Very rarely does the mask come off and the true man within gaze without; sometimes he himself doesn't know who he really is, therefore he adopts whatever persona is relevant to the situation. He's close to no one, only considers himself comfortable when in the solitary presence of his King and his neighbor during childhood, Amy Sinclair, also born into the Spades as a guardsman's child and the Spade's exceptional Butler, Declán Chives. Yet there are parts of himself that he can't let even them see, for he himself can't bear to face what might lurk there.
Very well suited to the spying/assassin business, Ethan's fluent in Italian, French, Spanish, knows a good bit of Russian and can make himself understood in Japanese, German and Mandarin. Weapons of any sort intrigue him; he grew up wielding blades and studied quite extensively in styles involving their use, but exposure to the Outside introduced him to guns and explosives. He learned to shoot quite quickly, but never evolved the patience to handle explosives with the necessary care. He prefers the Kali and Kenjutsu fighting styles, as his knives and swords are but extensions of his own hands. Although, since returning home, he does mourn the loss of a good handgun.
Although already a skilled operative, Ethan lacks the maturity needed to excel further. A natural flirt, tease and quick-tongued retort, he still has yet to learn true finesse and "grow up" in many areas. But he's loyal to his King and his Suit in general, and his ambitions run quite deep. Not content to be a mere mid-level card for the rest of his life, Ethan's ambitions burn hot, but experience and patience are the keys to the game, and Ethan's determined to take in the proverbial view from the pinnacle of power.
A nuance driven home even moreso in the past months of his self-imposed exile. Although he's always considered himself not an integral part of Deck family, Ethan has come to miss it more than ever. The months away and the absence of familiar presences have taken a hard toll; he's still the same smiling, smooth mask outside, but within lies a new coldness, a wary aloofness that will be hard to overcome, if possible. But, now that circumstances have changed, he's more determined than ever to live up to his father's expectations, regardless of consequence. Ethan knows it'll be a tough road, but it's one he now believes himself ready to tackle.
Appearance: Tall (6'2"), black hair, blue eyes. Runner's physique, athletically inclined but with dancer quickness. Prefers dark colors, expensive labels when not "in character", but can be at home in any persona, be it grunge-metal to ultra formal. Always, always armed with at least two concealed weapons.
