Edgeworth may or may not notice in due time, that someone has slipped a second vase full of flowers next to the previously received one. How or where it came from is anyone's guess, but something seems off about the gift. The flowers are a mixed bunch, each one a different color, and no two look the same. In fact, they don't ever look like a breed of flower that can be found on this world.
There's a note attached to the vase, stating only the following in a clean, precise handwriting:
I hope this gift has made it's way to you safely, regardless of where you are. You'll be in my heart always, no matter the distance between us or how much time passes. I will always be by your side, Miles Edgeworth.
Strange. He doesn't notice the flowers until he turns to prepare himself a cup of tea from the tea set that remains waiting for him by the window. He pauses as his chair spins, and his eyes widen at the flowers that were not there before.
Curiosity over takes him before suspicion does, and he leans forward, eyes scanning the card. A faint smile tugs the corners of his mouth, before he glances for the door again, making sure it's shut. Turning back to his desk, he removes the PIN from the top drawer and dials a number he's long since committed to memory.
Is she awake? Well, the phone rings twice without hitting a voice mail. That's a pretty good sign, and by the third ring, someone does pick up. Idle sounds can be heard in the background, consisting of people's voices and clinking glasses. Wherever she is right now doesn't sound quiet, which might imply that she isn't home currently.
Finally her voice, calm and clear, breaks the unusual moment.

Maybe she is awake? He's hopeful now.

He chews on his lower lip before he speaks.
