Fiona didn't have much to do on Mondays but be confused by her class (her thankfully finished class) which was why, of course, she ended up calling her brother. It took a few tries before he picked up, at which point the growly, grumpy mutter of Eliot's voice started in with--
"Not everyone has such a light course load as you, you know."
"You're not even on a real course load yet, skomorokhs."
"Hey, no foreign languages."
"It's fair use of a term that has no exact translation. If we really had no foreign languages, most of the zoology wouldn't be usable. It's not my fault you're not up on your Slavic cultural figures."
Which was, of course, a hint which was galling enough, but Eliot smiled as it told him exactly what he needed to know.
"I don't know why you're calling me the fool when all I've heard you talk about lately has me wondering if you've donned a mask and started playing the harlequin."
Ooo, that burned. She knew exactly what he was picking on, as she did talk to him by text or phone almost every night, but the jibe did make her wonder. Had she gone a bit obsessive? Wasn't there other things to worry about? Like her family and her parents and everything? And, goodness, she hadn't even gone to see Ghanima as she'd told Leto she would the other week.
"Invading Alcatraz are we?" Which was a stretch, referencing a specific book. He might or might not get it, but whether it was fair was hard to say.
"Just because I'm not mooning over someone doesn't mean I have a heart of rock," he answered smartly. And Fiona was so pleased with him that she let him have it.
"Nice."
"Hey, I read it too. So, anything else going on where you are?"
"You mean, other than last Friday when all the guys turned into girls?"
Eliot was quiet for a moment.
"...okay, now I don't mind the extra coursework so much."
They continued like that for a while before Eliot had to go. But he had one last thing he wanted from his sister.
"Send me pictures of your cat?"
That she agreed to easily enough before hanging up to start taking those pictures. The thing about kitties were that they were far too adorable for words or even pictures, but trying to get them to stay still to show it off was a completely different matter.
[open! feel free to wander into the kitty photoshoot ^_^]
