- room 223 - wednesday afternoon - 02/10 -

Fiona was in her room, putting together the notes she'd written on the reserves so that she'd have them ready for Arthur next week. She needed the distraction after today's class. And considering This Weekend.

[expecting one but open to all!]

Leto stopped by as he had promised, knocking lightly on the door.

She didn't quite startle, but she dropped her pen on the page where she'd been making a few extra notes of explanation (she had a tendency to write things as she understood them and sometimes that meant she had to go back over and fill in the blanks for those who weren't inside her skull) and stood. Then she made her way over to the door and--

"Oh. Leto. Hello. Come in?"

"Hello, Fiona." He entered the room. "I hope I don't disturb you."

She shook her head.

"Said you were coming sometime. Just got caught up in things."

Still nervous. Not because of him, just in general. She gestured with her chin to her bed, then to her desk chair; he was welcome to whichever one he wanted.

Tara glanced up from the spot on the floor where she'd been teasing Mister Moxy with a bit of yarn. "What are you working on?" she asked, half out of genuine curiosity, half out of the vague urge to be sociable.

"Notes," she answered as she continued. First to get them in some sort of presentable order, then retype them up to make sure that they were legible. Her handwriting wasn't the best, or so she thought.

"It's for the reserve."

Her voice wasn't tight or secretive, but she was... quieter. The whole affair with Griff had greatly shaken the confidence she'd built mostly by not pausing too long before throwing herself into the next social situation, and thus Fiona had reverted somewhat to the girl she'd been before her 15th birthday. It was very hard to feel like a goddess when you've been dumped.

"Special project?" Tara guessed. "Are you guys doing, um, simulations? L-last week magic reserves fought giant candy dinosaurs."

A pause as she teased Moxy some more. "It was kind of really cool."

"Something to do," she admitted, "and these are just notes to give to Arthur that he might want to use. We did sparring this week."

The thing about living practically across the hall from the girl he'd dumped in a fit of anger was that there was the occasional urge to stop and stare at the cracked door on his way back to his room. It was only a few extra steps after all and Griff was so damned curious.

Fortunately he wasn't stupid and kept his lurking brief and solidly in the hallway. Maybe no one would spot him before he turned to find his own room.

Of course, while the girl herself was preoccupied, there was in fact a cat who knew Griff and could smell him even from the crack in the door. Usually the kittens didn't bother going outside, since their humans were good at keeping them scritched and fed, but Nyx was like her Mommy and thus pushed the door open with her paws to walk over to the human who had been Very Remiss in Paying Attention to her.

Which was when the meowing started.

Outed by the cat.

So typical. A dog had done something similar years back, after all. Griff crouched down to murmur a quiet greeting and give Nyx a familiar rub behind the ears. It was kind of nice, seeing the cat again.

The meowing caught Fiona's ear and she noticed that the door was a little more open than it should have been before she put down her pen and pushed open the door--

And was rather surprised to see Griff in front of her door, petting her cat. She swallowed hard before she could speak.

"Guess she missed you."
