friends only, not camilla

I don't ever really talk about family here, so this is new to me. We're the understated type, we have Sunday lunch together and that's about it. I moved away at 18 and as said in the last public post Milla's done the same in the last few weeks. She was more of a homegirl than me, but a few weeks ago she came out to our parents and their reactions ( Read more... )

not happy with this, family

I've dealt with it. it's really not easy, but the best they can do is listen to each other.

Any ideas on how to get them to do that? I'm so stumped now :/

Unfortunately, my reconciliation with my father probably isn't the best to go by, given how recently it occurred, and the fact that I was pretty much flagrantly gay from birth... even if I didn't come out publically until relatively recently, either.

I would, however, be more than happy to talk with either of you about it when we get back from the States. I know one can never have too much support with this sort of thing.

That might be good, I mean... I'm doing what I can but Milla's just trying to be as in-mum's-face as possible about it while Mum ignores it all. I don't know what to make of it sometimes, you know?

It's a difficult thing, and of course no two people are exactly the same in their responses. Still, the stimulus we're responding to are similar enough. I think a sympathetic ear from someone who's been through the same thing will be a good start. I know I started dealing a lot better when I had people who really listened to me. Hell, that's how my relationship with Thomas started.

Not that I think Milla and I are suddenly going to turn straight for each other...
