My closet is so neat that it is soothing to gaze into it. Thank you, Annie.

The nice thing about spending two hours on the metro is that I get to do a LOT of reading. I have a huge stack of books that I got at the library the other week that I am working my way through, and it is nice. I finally compiled a ( list )

I've read between 1 and 3 of the books on there, depending on how you count it. America I've flipped through and read most of, and it's fucking hysterical. The columns of Gene/Gina are great too, but I've only read a bit of the book.

As for Lying Liars though, that's a harder read than America, but almost funnier because it's all true. Well, the vast majority at least.

"Operation Chickenhawk: Episode One" and "The Adventures of Supply-Side Jesus" are my favorite chapters. Annie has my copy though.

You recommended Lying Liars to me last summer I think, but I never got around to it. Gene Weingarten is my hero.

Don't read The Bell Jar, it is DEPRESSING and WORTHLESS.

And I'm a Sylvia Plath fan. I dunno, I mean, it's well written and all and captures the mindframe of a depressed person really well but that's the problem. It made me feel so ick.

Lolita is good.

Of Mice and Men is good, but sad.

Read anything by David Sedaris or Stephen Fry, I implore you.

Yes ma'am!

People would do David Sedaris stuff a lot for humorous interp for forensics and I always enjoyed it...I've always meant to read one of his books but have never got around to it. Any one in particular you recommend?

You can't go wrong with Me Talk Pretty One Day. It's great. I can lend you my copy if you like. Naked is also very good. I would avoid Dress Your Family in Curdoroy & Denim because it's not his best work and most of the stories come across as being more awkward/creepy/sad than funny.

YOU ARE TOO OLD TO PLAY WITH MERMAIDS IN THE BATHTUB!!!
According to my manager at Books A Million, The Washingtonienne is just disgusting. And she should know (for one, she's the manager of a bookstore, and for two, I've seen her boyfriend)
I haven't read any of the others :P

Am not.

Ashley at work said it's "raunchy," I read the feature about Jessica Cutler in the Post Magazine last fall so I'm really curious about it...of course the hold list at the library was like 200 people long when I got on it, so I don't expect that I'll read it for a while. Alas, why must books be so expensive?!

Sigh. I tried to get the phone to call you to speak on their (the mermaids') behalf, but Annie and my mom restrained me. It wasn't pretty.

You can keep your bags, I have a good starter pair that I expect will produce sufficient offspring by the end of summer. Thank you, though.

And yes, let's take a quilting class together! Or something! I really want to do this but I know if I try to do it on my own I will screw and give up.
