Personality; As a former empress-to-be, all her responsibilities were taken from her when her planet was destroyed and race killed. Feferi values freedom in the way those who have been freed of monumental lifelong burdens do. She could be considered somewhat flighty when it comes to taking on new responsibilities--while she is not completely averse to this, she is certainly very reluctant. She had a lot of responsibilities at home, and she wants to have time to herself now. When breaking off her responsiblity to Eridan she told him she was exhausted, and this was not only true about his burdens, but about burdens as a whole. SGRUB was a fun game to her, where she got to stretch her fins and didn't have to be beholden to anyone. While this can make her very fun to spend time with, it also means she may not always take things as seriously as she should. Feferi is very capable of taking things seriously, but she doesn't have to with most things anymore, so she doesn't.
While Feferi's blood is tyrian purple, the very highest color and what placed her as the heir to the Alternian throme in the first place, she does not consider herself better than other trolls for it. She genuinely believes blood color shouldn't matter. To some degree this is optimism getting the better of her, and privilege--it's easy to say it shouldn't matter when you're at the very top of it--but she is willing to work to make this a reality.
Feferi is kind. She wanted to redefine culling from killing off the weak and infirm to caring for them, and while she had to feed her lusus (monster serving as protector/parental figure), Gl'bgolyb, the lususes of other trolls, she relied on Eridan for that. She also spent time taking care of cuttlefish and aquatic hoofbeasts in her castle. She does try to listen to the feelings of her friends, possibly to an excessive degree, and is always up for sitting in a pile and having a feelings jam.
That's not to say Feferi is a pushover, though. Far from it, Feferi is basically fearless. Having been raised by what is essentially a Lovecraftian monster that whispered prophesies to her, there's not much that can shake her. She's very open about feelings, and this means that when she thinks it won't be dangerous to do so, she will express them. She can be blunt and rude, really pretty snarky at times. Her jokes can skew toward cruel-sounding as well, although she is joking about them.
Optimistic by nature, it's nearly impossible to get her down for long. Having spent so much time with her lusus whispering prophecies in her ear, she's grown very confident in the future. Even when bad things happen--even after her death--she's still happy and smiling and sure everything will work out in the end. In fact, because of this, everything is a great adventure, and she tends to get very excited about pretty much everything.
This isn't to say she doesn't understand responsibility. No, she is very good at weighing the needs of the many versus the needs of the few. On Alternia this expressed itself in feeding her lusus, as mentioned, and also in remaining Eridan's moirail (a form of troll romance in which both parties bring something the other lacks to the relationship and thus stabilize each other) to keep him from causing actual harm to the troll race; she only broke this relationship off after her planet was destroyed and (so she thought) Eridan could not pose a threat. She is capable of being serious and shouldering responsibility, it's just that after so long with no choice, she really doesn't like it.
Overall, Feferi is one of the nicest trolls to talk to, considerate to her friends, and always ready to inject some optimism and excitement into a situation. On the other hand, she may occasionally ignore issues she might be able to deal with just because she is so tired of having to deal with things, will be open about her feelings and your feelings to everyone, good or bad, and may dismiss concerns out of hand based on her feelings on the situation. Still, she does genuinely care for others, and would have made a good empress. If the planet hadn't exploded, anyway.
Finally, like all of the trolls, Feferi has a unique typing quirk. Feferi types like t)(is! S)(e tends to get very -EXCIT----ED about -----EV------ERYT)(ING and it s)(ows! And o)( my COD, t)(e fis)( puns.
