It's funny to think of Mariah Carey singing an REM song. I remember reading an interview in Rolling Stone mag around 1990 and Stipe called Mariah Carey a "pariah." As I remember it, he made this remark against upcoming pop artists.

And now he's probably great friends with her. Don't get me wrong, I love Michael Stipe, but he's now one of the Hollywood elite; he's just more subtle about it than the rest of them.
