Well, the confrontation was great. I liked how Randall backed down and told Ennis he would be in the wings waiting if Jack wanted him back. But, I think he also knows that he was only a fill in for Jack's true love is why he backed off so easily. As for Jack's ma well, I love her and I love how she talked to Ennis. joe

Well, you got that right, Randall has know all along he is second in line, and jumped at the chance to edge out Ennis. But regardless of his bravado, he knows Jack will choose Ennis in a showdown. So, off he went, bitter but now he can also move forward. Jack's mom knows when and how to say enough to get the point across, comes from years of living alone with OMT out on the Flats. She'll do some more pointed talking in chapters to come. Glad you like her, too.
