I woke up this morning to no electricity. sthaddeus said that he looked at the clock five minutes before getting up to no time on the clock. We called the power outage in and then sthaddeus got dressed and went exploring a bit. It turns out that people across the street had electricity. We learned this because one of the neighbors on my side of the street ran an extension cord across the street.

These are the folks who have cars labeled with "Swedish Bathroom" decals, so I think they make the bathroom parts in their garage. (The cars are a Volvo and a Saab, natch.) They are frequently sawing wood on the weekends, so they probably had to get some work done this morning.

Also, the local Safeway had no electricity.

They had no lights and the doors were stuck open, but they must have had a generator, because the cash registers were still running. There are skylights, so you could see stuff inside, but I don't know what would happen at night.

Also, the skies look ominous.

We're supposed to get a bigger storm tonight. (The Seattle folks are no doubt amused, but it's a big deal for us!)
