an interesting consequence of #4, it occurs to me, is that the "manliest man possible" exists only as an abstraction. however unflamboyant a man may be, there is always the potential for another man to register an even lower fraction of a Lane.
also, this entry had me laughing out loud.

Indeed. In fact, continuing studies into the extremes of flamboyance have closely parelleled those into temperature and heat in some noteworthy aspects, first among them a constant push to the "absolute zero" of manliness. Of course, where in thermodynamic studies this consists of baldly physical "laboratory" phenomena, in flambodynamic ones it consists in the much murkier waters of bioengineering and social conditioning. Still, the SJWL has made some small strides in this direction, the byproducts of which are found in a few notable hardasses such as Mickey Rourke and Michael Madsen - much like styrofoam and those little pens that can write underwater fell out of the intense deep-space research of the 1970's.
