Explanation: Who's Right? A series.

I realise that most people who would ever read this know a lot more about me than this explanation is going to assume they know but some things are just in case. You know, like if the internet realises I exist. Or something.

Origin: Recently, my friend Leah got The Sims 3 and I came over to her house to play it. I initially considered making myself but decided that because it was her game, that wouldn't be very classy. So I made Ten and Simm!Master and called their household 'LAST OF THE TIME LORDS' and laughed a lot. I gave the Master the Evil character trait and so he wanted to be the Evil Overlord of the World or something like that so I put him into the Criminal career path. But Ten wasn't really into any jobs, or Aspiring or anything so I just left him at home. And because he had all day and not a lot of money or ways to beef up his skills, I made him make beds, and clean the kitchen and the bathroom every day while the Master was at work.
Eventually, I realised that I'd made him into the Master's 50's wife.
This concept was instantaneously hilarious to both myself and Leah and on my way home, I texted Leah a story in which the Master treated the Doctor like his 50's wife and the Doctor wasn't amused. The next day, I wrote another one. Soon, I was completely obsessed, with stories reaching up to thirty-two 160 word texts, my largest ever. Finally, I started the story I'm currently on now, one that I'm writing outside of texts because it's SO HUGE.

Story Background: Not a lot is really required...all you need to know is that the Doctor and Master are living in an Alternate Universe in America where the 50's never stopped. Thus, it's 2009 but nothing has changed for 55 years. Except for some modern-day technology that still looks like it belongs in the fifties and homosexuality is socially OK as long as there are distinct gender roles: one person MUST be the man and one MUST be the woman. Once a lesbian woman is recognised as 'the man' or a gay man is recognised as 'the woman', the sexism and gender role associated with their 'new sex' now applies to them. Even so, their real sex is a crutch: the 'female' man gets slightly more privileges than the 'female' woman and the 'male' woman always gets slightly less privileges than the 'male' man. Cripes, this is complicated. I've clearly put too much thought into this. But hopefully, it will clear up any confusion about the AU. If you have more questions, ask them, and I'll answer them in an edit.

Series Title: In 1954, a movie called Who's Right? was made about an arguing couple who find their marriage difficult. The movie is about them finding happiness through reinforcing their stereotypical gender roles. At the start of the movie, the woman is described as: "Spoiled, selfish, self-centred. This woman believes the sun should rise and set according to her needs. Her uncontrollable temper flares up at the slightest imagined provocation." The man is described as: "Power-hungry, domineering, dominating. He lusts for control of other people. Forever seeking subjects to his stubborn, iron will."
Frankly, I think those are rather good descriptions of the Doctor and the Master. Thus, the name of this series.

The Town they Live In: Denfield is the name and it DOES NOT EXIST. It is a stereotypical middle America city. The Master and the Doctor's neighbourhood is in the suburb-y bit of it but there is a downtown to it. It's not New York scale but it is a fairly big place.
