METRIC

WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW.
Okay, that was amazing.
The first band was called Flash Lightnin' and they were all right. Kind of like...Led Zeppelin but a little more rockabilly. Their last song was dancy.
The crowd was really impatient and kept chanting and stuff for Metric and I was like "GRR that will not make them come any faster." And it didn't.
I was in a pretty good place, even though there was a tall guy in front of where the bassist and sometimes Emily Haines were who liked to jump up and down. I was still right in front of the guitarist with a short girl in front of me and I could see the drummer when the flashy lights weren't burning my retinas.
Then they came out and the first song was Twilight Galaxy! That's the one I associate with the Doctor/all his Companions. And they played it with a Theramin! It made me so geeky-happy. Plus, it got really hardcore near the ending and it went sort of epic adventury Doctor Who.
The next song was Help I'm Alive (Donna, sorry, I associate every song by this band with Doctor Who) and Satellite Mind (the Master, I TOLD you.) I started getting kind of dancy. It was really fun. I might have some of the others out of order, though.
They played Handshakes and then Empty. At Empty, Emily started to have fun and shake her hair a lot. Then she started coming out towards the audience. Everyone around me had their srs faces on or sort of vague smiles so, of course, being me, I was so happy that I was grinning like a loon. And then I swear, she looked directly at me and GRINNED BACK. She had also had a srs face on until then and then she kept grinning around and stuff. Then she started shouting out to the audience saying, like, "This isn't TV! This can be a new experience!" or something like that. And then she looked at me later and grinned again! I....I know I might be inventing this but shut up, leave me my delusions! XD
At the end, she started kind of singing "FIght For Your Right To Party" over the song.
Then she got a guitar and they went into Gold, Guns, Girls. I should stop talking about Emily and talk about the only person I could see consistently: the guitarist. He was DAMN good, if a little bit aloof. Also, he danced amusingly, with one knee sort of collapsing sideways as he played the guitar.
Then was Sick Muse (Martha) and then the hell began because they played Dead Disco and the crowd went insane. Like, basically literally. They decided that a good idea was to KEEP CROWD SURFING. Eventually, the security was standing in a row in front of my field of view, taking the stupid drunks as they flailed across the top of the crowd and marching them out of the side. But even in the face of this wall THEY KEPT GOING. One guy fell on poor Paisley and this, along with the crowd all CRUSHING inward and forming a mosh pit probably influenced her and Sharmie's decision to leave early, in about the middle of Monster Hospital. Some guy tried to stage dive during that and nearly hit Emily who darted backwards and he was grabbed by security. Presumably, he flipped her off because she flipped him off right back and said, "Fuck you too, buddy!"
I kept nearly falling sideways in the crush of people but I held my ground pretty well. I was damned if they were going to push me away from my good vantage point.
The last song, of course, was Stadium Love.
Everyone chanted for an encore, pressed in, still not letting me leave but Metric didn't come back out.
If I'd had people diving at me drunkenly for the last half of my concert, I don't think I would either.

Also, when I went with Kat to the LA pit afterwards, I looked up at the TV and was like, "WTF, HI, DAVID TENNANT." He was on both TVs and holy shit, they were playing Journey's End.
CAN NEVER ESCAPE.
OH DONNA.
OH IANTO.
...
OH ROSE.

concert, donna = win, i may have a girl crush on emily haines, doctor who, reactions, metric, oh rose!
