Film aspect ratio

(This is posted mainly for my own reference, but somebody else might find it useful.)So at my job, sometimes we convert CG scenes from monoscopic to stereoscopic. Because of horizontal axial offset, we need to render a wider frame than we will actually use. I remember back in college, at the end of every semester you could spot the computer art students who were learning Maya by looking for the kids sobbing uncontrollably...God be with you on your quest, good sir knight.

What makes it frustrating for me is that I learned Newtek's Lightwave 3D first. To change the horizontal resolution you just... change the horizontal resolution. Done.
