I work with a woman formerly from North Carolina and my brother moved there for a job; neither of them would ever partake of the sorts of things you describe. It's ugly but that awful face of a part of America shows itself even up here in the so-called nice state of Minnesota.

Your voice of rationality is appreciated.

Thanks for the positive thoughts. I really like North Carolina, it's just that there are pockets of hate and ignorance here that scare me. I suppose that's true of most states, though.

most countries too. it was a bad day for me when i realised the USA had no monopoly on stupid.
