First step towards observatory...

I finally heard back from some people in the SDAA who handle approving changes & expansions to pads.  I am a GO for doing the 'first step', which is constructing a wooden frame on the pad out of 1"x2"s and leaving it up for at least 30 days.  I'll also take pictures of the frame to use when I submit the actual request to the board so they can see ( Read more... )

Nice! It seems complicated though. Like... something carpenters have tricks for, with... angle brackets or something. I completely think you should do it though, and $30 is a great place to start.

haha, I'm already on the TechShop's mailing list :) Hopefully it does actually come about. I'd really love to have a place I can go that has a bunch of tools, CNC machines, lathes, and also teaches so I can finally make carbon fiber parts for my scope. Hell, if it was accessible I'd probably start making everything I own into carbon fiber.
