He thought that the fact that I was having a hard time focusing on anything within five or six feet of me was me just being lazy. If I squint and try really hard I can bring my eyes into focus but it hurts, and I told him that and he told me to buy some reading glasses from Shoppers and stop thinking I was a special snowflake.
