transparent leather?

 Question for my costumers and material scientist friends:

I'm looking for a material similar to that light, artificial leather they use for things like soccer and footballs - but I need something that's as transparent as possible. Any suggestions?

Details of what you're looking to use it for would help us tailor suggestions.

In general terms, if you want transparent (clear) and somewhat rugged, you go with clear vinyl in whatever thickness is appropriate to your task. You could do some kind of surface detailing on it to get a leather-like texture if you need it.

Many of the fake leathers are just a thin layer of latex/vinyl/other-plastic-like-fake-thing layered onto a woven or knit base for stability.
