I love that. Well, not the different instrument part... But every time I go back to Dallas, I sit down at my father's piano, open all the books and play everything *almost* flawlessly. (we're talking Chopin, Schumann, Grieg, Gershwin) How the brain can remember things like this, I do not know.
It is amazing, isn't it? Research on people with Alzheimer's has shown that those who had developed strong musical skills earlier in life will not forget how to play as the disease progresses. What's even niftier, though, is that while they are playing and for a very short period of time afterward, their memory and general cognitive function returns to normal. They can recognize and name family members that they usually cannot, and recall facts that had long since been lost in the haze.
BTW... Saw an advertisement that you'll be coming to town relatively soon. I'd love to see you when you're here! Its been a minute!
