Movies/District 9

We went over our internet usage and got bumped back down to dial-up speed (ugghhhhhh) and one of my computers has a virus so I decided I'd go do something non-computer related and shelled out AU$16 to see District 9 (usually I'd pay half of that, but the cheap cinema isn't showing this film :\ ). I've been folowing the news on this film (mainly ( Read more... )

This may sound sad, but the more I see of Avatar, the less enthused about it I am (and I really wasn't too enthused to begin with)... it just kinda smells like Dances With Wolves IN SPACE! ...and there's a wiki for something that's not out yet, wow.

I've seen the original Solaris, in all its plodding, 3+ hour length. There's a 20+ minute sequence where all that happens is a guy rides a bus home. A FUTURISTIC BUS (ie. a bus that makes jet noises). The ending sucks, too... and I'm not saying that because it's not a 'happy' ending or a 'normal' ending... I'm just saying it was a horrible way to end the movie. Basically, skip it.

Before I forget, sorry I haven't sent you those MP3's, because the project just keeps on morphing into something different every time I open up Garageband. (right now it's a 'soundtrack' to something)

I sort of feel the same way. Having not actually seen any footage, the real reason I was looking forward to this was just to see some cool aliens, mechs and space stuff - but I got that yesterday at D9, which I'm still thinking about today. So my interest in Avatar isn't terribly high right now. We'll see how I feel when actual footage emerges.

Ugh, it's 3 hours long? 20+ minutes on a space bus... are we sure Anno was influenced by 2001? Maybe he was influenced by Solaris! That's why we have the elevator scene! Yes, it makes sense now - ohhh finally we know the truth - it's not because of budget constraints that we get that long static elevator scene - it's homage to another work! It's the way Anno-sama intended! :p

No need to apologise for that. It's your project. I'll hear it when it's good and ready.

Just saw the trailer for Avatar. Almost bored by it :(
Let's keep an eye on things here [http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39215&page=8] and see everyone disagree with my post about the trailer and lie to themselves that they were blown away (Truff will probably 'finish' if you catch my drift).
