You and I frequently disagree on comic stuff, but I was curious as to how you felt about the Hulk as a character. The Hulk I'm referring to in this case is either the one from the TV show (which, as I recall, is the influence for the one in the new movie), or the "BLARG! HULK ANGRY! HULK SMASH!" early Hulk. Do you like the character, loathe it, or something entirely different? Personally, I can't stand the damn thing. I could never empathize with or get behind the Hulk, and Banner was neat, but Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was done better in many other instances, in my opinion. Just not my thing, I guess. As far as the movie goes, I love Ed Norton, and the effects look...interesting...but I still think I'm gonna take a pass on this one.
Lastly, good luck with the moronic customers on this one. Smack some geek kid in the braces for me.
Unbeknownst to me, I have a button that one can verbally press and the next thing you know I'm walking customers through the character, describing scenes and art and brilliant moments in comic writing and pulling out issues and making diagrams.
Okay. Maybe it was knownst.
I'm going to see it, don't get me wrong, but there is a fear. That ugly comic fans fear of 'Oh please don't be Batman and Robin'.
See, that's the weird thing. I probably am gonna see it, just not in theaters. Even if I don't think I'm gonna like the subject matter, there are two large things going for my seeing it: 1) It's got Ed Norton, and 2) spooktress loves the Hulk.
Nice articles, by the way. I totally see where the pathos is, and where the story has its heart. I suppose I just haven't read the individual books that make it really hit home. I hope you enjoy it immensely, and I REALLY hope it's not another Batman & Robin.
Honestly, I read that Newsarama interview (and linked it on my pro blog) and I feel reasonably assured that Leterrier can handle this. I mean, I love The Transporter movies...
I'm trying to keep my expectations low. I'm more annoyed with Red Hulk right now. EMIL BLONSKY IS A BETTER CHARACTER THAN THIS.
Same here. On both counts because the Red Hulk doesn't make any sense! What is Loeb doing?
Twitter gives me this review and all the little hints are hitting nerd buttons and the very idea that HUMOR is found in the film is a moment of genius but... but but.... LIV TYLER! If she ain't makin' out with Alicia Silverstone in her daddy's video, I don't get it.

Enjoy not seeing it. =)
