Comment to this post and I will give you five subjects/things I associate with you. Then post this to your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

slw2004 picked the following for me;

1. NaNoWriMo
Ok well first off it is through NaNoWriMo that I met the funtastic slw2004 in the first place. I love the whole concept of it, you know "Write like crazy for a month and try for a 50,000 word novel type thing". I love the whole don't edit what you write just write thing...but somehow I have not yet been able to complete it, despite my best efforts. I try and put everything else on hold but it never seems to work out. One of my life long goals is to actually complete it one year. To just go at it like a crazy person and seriously not let anything get in my way. I will do it some day I am sure. If I wanna even attempt to make a career out of writing then I should be able to complete NaNoWriMo.

2. emigrating
Ok just recently I moved from the UK (where I had spent all of my life up until Sept 2008) to the US. Ok so yeah...big move. It takes some getting used to, but at least I moved to a country where they speak the same language...more or less. So...some of the differences; Biggest and most noticeable difference is Healthcare. I am used to just going to the doctor or the dentist and, mostly, not worrying about what it costs. Now I have to worry about insurance and whether I am covered or not or whether we have used up all our insurance for the year. So yeah...that is weird. Other things are weird too...like waiting for a bus here in Portland...ok I am used to sticking out my hand when a bus comes...here you just stand by the sign and don't do anything...that's right folks, you just stand there...and wait :o. I think I am going to be able to settle in here but man it is weird living in another country :D

3. your default icon
Ok now my default icon actually goes with another name I go by, Shadowofnight. For ages I could never find an icon that fit the name, until I randomly came across this one. It's actually called something like "The Book Keeper" or something mundane like that...but I think it fits me pretty well. I mean he has a quill and he is writing, he is all shadowy and I go by the name Shadowofnight, so yeah...that is the story behind that one. I wish there was more to it than that...but it is what it is :D

4. cyberpunk
Ok now Cyberpunk and me go way back. One of the first RPG's (Role Playing Games for those of you who don't know) that I ever played was the second edition of Cyberpunk 2020 and I totally fell in love with the game and essentially the whole genre. Now I hope most of you know what the Cyberpunk genre encompasses...but if not then look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk

So anyway I have always had a fascination with everything Cyberpunk and some offshoots such as Steampunk (essentially The Wild West but with steam based technology...pretty weird but cool nonetheless) and Gothicpunk (things like the original Vampire: The Masquerade and that kind of modern Gothic idea) and I am more and more convinced that the world we live in resembles the Cyberpunk world more each day, a thought I find both frightening and kind of exhilarating. So yeah that is me and Cyperpunk :D

5. Glasgow
Right so to Glasgow. Probably the best wee city in the world. But then I am biased as it is my wee city. I am Glasgow born and bred and very proud of that fact. I mean don't get me wrong. It has it's faults, but then again what city doesn't? I will always stick up for my wet wee city and I will always be proud to say I am from Glasgow. I am missing it quite a lot right now and can't wait to get back there just for a visit so I can see my friends and all the places we used to hang out. Over the years I have had to defend my love of Glasgow quite frequently to people who just don't get it. I once even had a friend who was afraid of Glasgow and of Glaswegians...I mean WTF? Yeah we are often loud and can be a bit intimidating to those who are not used to us, but we are generally friendly and good people, well apart from the neds (if you don't know what a ned is then find out here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ned_(Scottish)). Ok so there you have it. I love Glasgow and will defend her to the death :D
