okay... so i got some oranges from A&P and they were rotten. i wanted a refund, but i was not given one on account that i did not have the receipt. i was so miffed that i email their customer service department, and this was their response...

Thank your for bringing this matter to our attention.
In a situation like you described where a product is in a sealed bag or appears fresh on the outside, then we, like the customer, assume it is fresh and believe we are selling the product in good faith. If this is not found to be the case, then we will always endeavor to correct the situation by offering a refund or exchange for the item.
In the future you can return any products you purchased in our stores without a receipt.
Since you have already discarded the item, as a customer service gesture, I
will be sending you a $10.00 gift certificate as a refund for the bag if (what kind'a customer service rep makes grammar mistakes?) oranges and watermelon.

i realize that this corporation is making an unreasonable expectation to NEVER sell anyone bad produce, but until they realize this foolish ideal... i plan to exploit the situation in my favor. yay me!
