She does make some very good points. But she neglects to honor the fact that Muslims *have* brought value to various societies throughout history. Algebra, for instance, is a Muslim contribution. She should focus on the good that has been done by Muslims and emphasize that *that* is the path to take, not ones that make the world want to judge Muslims poorly.
This stuff is making it very apparent to me that we should favor secularism over religiousness.
I think a secular world would be a reasonable, civilized, and peaceful world.
It's worthy to note that the Muslim guy asked her if she was a "heretic" and then wrote her off, stopped listening, once she emphasized that she was secular. Because she is a non-believer, then nothing she said was worth anything to him.
She could have been rattling off the cure to cancer, and he wouldn't have been listening.
I believe she was focusing on the current regimes and what they are up, denouncing their decision to continue to war. In alot of areas because they have been forced to live in poverty and ignorance, they live today as their ancestors did in biblical times, You can live a pure life and still seek progression. I think she is right though about their idealogly being archaic versus changing with the times. Muslims have brought many things to the world through different mediums, Medicine, Math , Science etc, arts and culture as well, but habitualy they have sought Jihad the entire time hurting and killing outsiders as well as their own. I mean through out history many religions have done this killing for a cause. Ideally though today you would not see a protestant minister or any other religious leader of a modern christian church, preaching"KILL the So and So's and burn down their churches!". Now they all just hand out tracts and use the power of the pen. I also believe that there will never be a secular society wholely, almost all
( ... )
Yes. The muslim world by and large is in the middle ages in terms of attitudes.
A lot of religious people in the United States are as primative as well. If there were not checks and balances in place to control these people, they would make us into a country under the heel of fundamentalist Christian tyranny.
There's a lot in this world that must change in order for freedom to reign.
It's a strange situation. To create and live in an enlightened world, must we tolerate that which may ultimately destroy us? If so, then how do we deal with it effectively?
This is really interesting. She mostly says things that we in the West would want to hear and one we would want the Muslim world to understand (except maybe the part about Jews not killing people given Israel's recent incursion into Lebanon).
But I am curious not only as to who actually got to see this footage, but also about what happened in between all the editing that was done on this video.

Yeah I agree but I think it was more along the lines of the Jewish people not seeking revenge on the German republic, outside of reparations for WWII.
It was actually posted by a young Jewish man, I will get in touch with him As I am curious how he came upon it. HE had live footage from the city of Jerusalem that he shot while there visiting family as well. He is very active against the atrocities being done in the name of Allah and for Jihad. He is not Pro Against Muslims, just radical muslims.
I have never heard of radical religon of any flavor bringing around any real benefit in the world so with that part, I definitely agree. Of course, I think it is also good to remember that there are some radical jews out there and they are also destructive. One of them assassinated Yitzhak Rabin in 1995. If it hadn't been for that, who knows what the Middle East would look like now.
Do let us know what the poster of the video says. The video is attributed to Al Jazeer, but if I have my info straight (i.e. I could be totally wrong on this one), like CNN Al Jazeer broadcasts different content to different audiences around the world; so who knows who might have seen it. And I am incredibly curious about the edits.
