this was really amazing. i don't generally like pete, but i really liked him in this. i think my favorite part was the very first part about how pete wants john hughes movie sex and ryan wants baz luhrmann movie sex. this was really a good description of the characters. and when they had sex in the van....awesome!
Okay, so I'm totally going to praise you and not the story, first of all! You write such interesting stuff, you write a story that's not about sex when 90 percent of it takes places during sex acts. You take things places no one else goes, and thus you're one of my favorite writers (shock and awe, huh?).
And this story specifically, I love how you got into Pete's head-space and explored how Pete is a fanboy just like Ryan, how the whole thing is complex and mutually beneficial and cyclical. Plus your phrasing in all the sex scene parts is just masterful, how you convey want and need, the effective use of repetition and detail. You left me wanting more, but in an entirely good way, like I wanted to sink into this scenario and see it from all angles because it's so interesting.
Wow. What an amazing take on this scenario. I can feel this underlying current of pain and manipulation and a weird need for one another. It's hard to tell on the surface, but Ryan is always in control here. Regardless of whether or not Pete ever realizes it.
I just really seriously enjoyed this story. I'm not putting my thoughts together very well, but know that this was something that really struck me.
I very much enjoyed this, especially the ever-present sense of uncertainty and disconnect. I've always been fascinated by the way that you sometimes feel most alone in the moments when you're most intimately connected with someone. And that last sentence was excellent. :)
