I was debating whether or not to do this, because I liked having a place to post fic without readers potentially getting bogged down by old fandom biases, and it was nice to be able to have fic judged solely on its merits as fic, and not seen through a lens of whatever I'd written before or outright avoided because of my previous work or me in

Earlier today, I was rereading Dear Catastrophe Waiter. I never knew the name of the author of it, so when I found out I read it again just to see if I could pick out parts that, writing-wise, should have been obvious to me while I was reading. I clicked on the journal name to see if I had missed anything posted there recently, because I had so far really loved everything by cloviswest! Nothing was posted that I hadn't read, and for some reason, I had this thought that whoever this person was, they were definitely already in the fandom and was someone I knew of. Whether they were new or older in the fandom was beyond me, but I just got that feeling ( ... )

That's really flattering that you liked it enough to reread it and then to go in for more analysis. How totally cool and gratifying.
I definitely could have stealthed that one better, it did ring of sock puppetry for sure. But at least it took awhile for anyone to catch on, and my popping up right before the exchange probably helped. Oh well.
Yay for Ryans of all stripes! \o/

I have not yet commented on what I call the vegan doughnut one, because worklife is - literally - crazy right now, but that was choice as well. I only wished it could have been a little longer.
I used to love anon exchanges for that reason, or rather the opposite reason - to get some attention because no one knew who I was, and I might be a BNF! You know? :P Too many people knowing my writing has never really been a problem of mine.

It probably would have been longer had I not gotten down to the wire with the deadline. /o\ Like, going into Brendon's job hunt and his continuing life dating Ryan, and how they get to be ridiculously domestic and cute. And then maybe there would be some sort of conflict. And probably a lot more sex. And donuts.
That was actually the first anon exchange I'd ever done! It was cool. Hmm, I'd kind of like to organize one, that'd be neat. Unfortunately I've been in bandom long enough to accumulate some grudgy types who would avoid my fic because they think I only write one sort of thing. Sucks. But oh well, maybe folks will know better now and give me another shot! *eternal optimist*

I know all about deadlines. But I suppose there's always the chance of sequels (hint hint). I have a doughnut now, as it happens, with pink icing. Life is good.
Uh-huh, I didn't quite realise how many grudgey types there are in bandom. But ... they're kind of the old guard? imo, a lot of people coming are from HP and other places, and they're bringing with them (us!) a different attitude. HP, for all its faults, is a little more grown up than bandom. And in HP, the anon fests rule!
