Somebody shared with me today that we all should know the kind of future we are going to have by looking at the present that we are in. What do you think? SO do you know what future you are going to have eventually?
The old man talks of the past because he has no future. The young boy talks of the future because he has no past. The man at age of 30 has his present, illuminated by glorious past deeds, leading forward to future dreams.
Freaking about the future is like freaking out about the weather, and what weather it's going to be. You're just being an idiot and letting life pass you by.
Not planning is foolish, but being paranoid and unable to accept a different future/outcome is even dumber. Most people are the latter. They think they are being smart by fixating on the future and what-if's, though.
Neil Gaiman has this line that goes "everyone knows the future, we just tell ourselves we don't know to make ourselves feel better"
Of course, Neil Gaiman is also a professional liar hehheh...
But it does give you food for thought - We ask about the future because we feel a sense of not being in control of our own lives. it becomes a kind of blame that allows us to excuse ourselves for not performing as best as we can later on. But if we just stop wasting time being concerned about the future, it would allow us to concentrate on the present. And one thing can be certain about the future - focusing on the present guarantees an unwasted future :)
