I find too much 'noise' on twitter and FB, myself included in noise-making.

Most people just read nowadays. I agree with you that Facebook and Twitter took the wind out of the blogging sails for some time already. The consensus seems to be why type a thesis when a simple few words can cut it?

I agree with the consensus.
But i also realise that when methods are too easy and too accessible, comments are sometimes made with less sensitivity and responsibility.
Instead here in LJ, we tend to say what we mean. And its not as 'noisy' as the stuff (sometimes qualifying as crap) seen in twitter and FB.
