Back and forth e-mails between wickedchicken and myself...

From wickedchicken
Detailed article about Sarah Palin's support of aerial hunting, and appartently her complete disregard for science and facts.
http://www.salon.com/env/feature/2008/09/08/sarah_palin_wolves/

This is the Humane Society endorsing Barack Obama with details on why Sarah Palin is the worst thing that could happen for animal rights in this country.

http://hslf.typepad.com/political_animal/2008/09/humane-society.html

Here it is...her defending the bill that gives the Alaska Board of game & wildlife the decision to "scientifically" decide whether it is acceptable to massacre wolves in an inhumane way. This was after the courts had already decided it should be illegal...she tries to pass this bill to override the decision, and leaves it up to her "buddies" on the Alaska Board.

There's a lot more, but I won't bombard you with any more links. All I know is that Barack-Biden have to win this election, if they don't, I'm going to go all Vincent D'Onofrio in this place.

My response:
Do Alasakans really rely that much on wild game hunting as a primary food source? That's what she implies, no I mean STATES, in that last article you sent me. Are you serious, Sarah Palin? Thousands of people living in Alaska need moose and elk meat to survive? So basically the people of Alaska will starve to death unless you take out the wolves, who are better at hunting than you are because it's natural for them to do so and they've EVOLVED into awesome hunters in order to survive. Is that what you're getting at? First of all, Sarah Palin, I'm not buying what you're selling. I sincerely doubt that your entire state depends so heavily on wild game for survival. Second, shut up because your accent and shrill voice is giving me a headache. For God's sake. I bet you could talk a wolf dead. You would burst its eardrums with you high pitched yammering. Who needs a gun when you've got a voice like that, really? Also, do you not have grocery stores in Alaska? I know it might be hard to get around and stuff sometimes with all the snow and polar bear attacks, but I would like to suggest that people who live in Alaska probably know what living in Alaska is like, and therefore they could prepare for difficult periods of isolation when they're forced to be home bound due to extreme weather. It's not like that SNL skit where everyone in Alaska is a completely out of their league New York reporter that lives by Starbucks and taxi cabs. But if it really is that bad, if they are going to starve if the wolves eat all of their protein sources, why do they continue to live in Alaska? Is it an entire state of people who think the situation is bad enough to bitch about, but not bad enough to take action on? Is it an entire FUCKING state of Guen and Christophers and James' who just want to whine about a shitty situation that they've gotten themselves into but don't actually want to DO anything about it, other than kill wolves? Is that what you're saying, Sarah Palin?

I think Obama will win. I dont' think the polls are as close as the media is reporting. I honestly think there is manipulation of the numbers going on somehwere. I really don't think that many people are still all that into John McCain. They're trying to paint it as a close election like Kerry-Bush in '04, but I don't believe it.

Greta Van Crazylady on Fox News said she was "enraged" that an Obama ad was trying to mislead her about McCain. She said she was "enraged" people were trying to hoodwink her. WELL, GRETA, Obama does his fair share of twisting facts or quotes, but SO DOES MCCAIN-PALIN. Why aren't you "enraged" at them? Why aren't you "enraged" that McCain pulled that lame stunt about lipstick on a pig being in reference to Sarah Palin? Why aren't you ENRAGED that you're being used as a muppet to perpetuate a broken administration's policies and tactics? Why, Greta, did you basically blow Todd Palin in an interview you had with him in which you promised to ask hard hitting questions? WHY DID YOU ASK HIM ABOUT FUCKING HOCKEY AND FISHING INSTEAD OF ABOUT HIS WIFE'S POLICIES AND RECORD??? Because you're a patsy and you're trying to hoodwink a lot of people yourself, you hypoctirical hag.

Her response:
It makes no sense, it's a joke that their reason for aerial hunting is that they are doing it to provide "poor" Alaskans moose meat. Here's an idea: instead of spending $400,000 on educating (brainwashing) Alaskans on the benefits of "predator control," maybe provide food stamps for those poor Alaskans to buy food.

Not to mention they have no scientific facts to suggest killing wolves actually increases the moose population, just because you say it despite hundreds on scientists disagreeing with you, doesn't make it true. It's like the Bush administration all over again, deceive the public in order to get what you want. It's despicable that this woman has no qualms about encouraging citizens to hunt for innocent wolves and bears for selfish reasons, but it's even more telling that her reasoning is false!!!! So she is massacring animals for no reason, plain and simple. Mission accomplished.

I'm still furious about this, but I'm not going to let it ruin my mood. I have to believe that people like Palin will get their comeuppance, it's the karma train, you can't destroy an entire ecosystem and get away with it. She can't think her cruelty will go unpunished.

I had weird dreams about animals last night, I am really disturbed by that video I saw. I remember reading about aerial hunting several months ago, but now that we might have a VP who actually encouraged this inhumane treatment of animals is frightening. And I'm with you on Sarah Palin's voice, it's ungodly. I can't stand her, but I'm looking forward to the debate between her and Biden, I think he is going to massacre her in the same way she encourages the slaughter of animals. We can only hope!

The thing is, the Alaskan citizens are against aerial hunting, they voted against it various times since 1996. It was outlawed in the 1970's once people realized how cruel it was...and then some conservative thought it would be a good idea to bring it back, and Sarah Palin continued to support it.

What Obama-ad was that Greta woman from Fox news referring to? It's hard to imagine any Obama ad is going to be as misleading as McCain's ads have been.

And Finally, from me:
Yeah, it makes me mad, too, but there is nothing that our being mad will accomplish except make us miserable. Unless, of course, it makes people mad enough to take action like going to Iowa and knocking on doors. My mom got a phone call from the Obama campaign requesting a road trip to Iowa for just that purpose. It does make me angry, and I do want Palin to be held accountable, but I can't afford to let it get in the way of things I do have control over -- I can't let it stop me from getting the things done that I need to get done. So that's why I didn't get riled about it last night. I think your anger is justified and I feel it, too, but I can't invest energy into just being mad. I can do something like talk to my sisters about the truth (Barack Obama is not a baby killer, for instance) or like your donating to the Human Society, which I would do if I could afford it. It's disgusting the way NO ONE is held accountable. Wall Street, the Bush Administration, Barb and Kathy, Jennifer or Yvette, Palin and McCain, even JOE BIDEN has some questionable things on his record (he voted for the Bridge to Nowhere, apparently -- according to a CNN special report).
Part of the major problem I had/have with Guen and Christopher is that they keep getting away with stupid shit. No one holds them accountable, and when someone tries, they run away and tell lies about that person (in other words, me). But look at where that situation has gone: Guen relapsed, she was in a hospital in NAPERVILLE, not the hospital near James' house (that means she was in Naperville or near there when she was picked up for whatever stupid shit she did), she's down to one job if she's lucky after that stunt, because the other one laid her off due to a slow economy. Christopher just got fired. Slowly the consequences are happening. I want them to happen right now. I want them to be severe. I want them to pay for thier selfish disregard for others. However, what I sometimes fail to see is that THEY ARE. I don't get to decide when or how, but it will happen. It is happening.

Palin is paying for this already. Her arrogance is costing her a lot. Those two articles by Steinem and the other feminist are important. It means that smart women are not thinking with their lady parts. I think John McCain is underestimating women in America. He's assuming that we're all as vapid as his wife -- WE'RE NOT. Palin is assuming that she can just smile and stay away from the microphones she'll get through this unscathed, that no one will find out about the aerial hunting and the rape kits and the blatant disregard for science and the war mongering. That's completely retarded thinking. A conservative talking head on Larry King was justifying McCain's misleading ads by saying Obama doesn't have a record to attack because he hasn't done anything. Arianna Huffington laughed and said "Ok, so you're just going to make things up?" What I think is that if Palin doesn't say something with subtance other than that fucking line "Thanks, but no thanks on the bridge to nowhere" people won't trust her. Obama doesn't have a record, but Sarah Palin does we just don't want you to know what it is. What?? The only interview Sarah Palin has done is with Sean Hannity who was just about fawning over her the way others have accused Olbermann and Matthews of doing with Obama. I think he was drooling at one point. He would have cut out his own kidney with a butter knife if she'd asked him to. Basically I think the tactic of not saying anything at all (on Palin's part) is going to hurt Palin-McCain more than help them. Look at what happened with Mary-Kate Olson on the Heath Ledger thing. She wouldn't talk at all (I don't necessarily mean to the media -- that may not have been appropriate) and then there was nothing the media had to go on so they SPECULATED and INFERRED. The media is hungry for things to say and pick apart. If Palin gives them nothing, they will honestly just start making shit up. It will start with one blogger and then it will get picked up in a week by MSNBC and there will be nothing from Sarah Palin to dispute it. That will destroy everything the Republicans are (kind of) working for.

Make no mistake, Sarah Palin's day is coming. It won't be the rapture she's thinking, though. It will be direct consequences for her actions. It may not be tomorrow or the next day, but it will partially be in her helping McCain lose this election. I sometimes still do get really mad about the fact that people like Palin and Barb and Guen because WHY are they allowed to continue being ASSHOLES and I'm NOT. WHY do *I* have to be a good person when *they* DON'T. It comes down to the fact that I WANT to be a good person, not an asshole. Even if I could afford to be a prick like those people, that's not who I want to be. It comes down to that overall I'm happy and productive, and when I'm unhappy I try and figure out a way to fix that, instead of sitting and feeling sorry for myself. I can't change them, but I can change me. It comes down to the best way to counteract the assholes like Palin is to be a good example of the alternative -- someone who IS humane and honest and considerate. That makes me happy, it makes those around me happy and it adds to the world rather than detracting from it. I don't think America can afford McCain-Palin, and I may be overly optimistic, but I think America is realizing that.

Woah. That went on for a long time... yikes. But I hope it's not offensive or anything. I just get that it's infurating to see things like this. But if I let myself get too involved with all the infuriating things going on, I would never get anything done.

And the ad... um I think it was something about McCain's economic plan or something. Factcheck.org is a non-partisan site that I've been reading. I think McCain is worse than Obama in misleading ads, but Obama's campaign isn't without guilt. Also, McCain started it. :P

It's way long. Because we're pretty into it. Aerial hunting... What a bitch.

I'm so glad to have my clicky keyboard back. Even though Matt gave it to me (actually, he gave me the whole computer I'm using) I still love my Model M.
There is a seriously creepy grinding noise from the CPU, however, that makes me think about demonic possession.

Currently I'm in love with: Jukebox the Ghost, Fleet Foxes and making fun of Sarah Palin.

Also, it was pretty hilarious to see Tim Gunn tell Kinley off on "Project Runway" tonight. Tim looking incredulous and then saying "It would be really helpful if you would cut out the sarcasm and facetiousness. I'm trying to follow your thought process and you lead me off a precipice!" Oh, Tim. You're my non-sexual crush.
