Painting. Seto knew what painting meant when it concern Pegasus. Painting meant he was thinking of Cyndia again. It also meant he didn’t want to be disturbed.

Seto knew. Seto knew that Pegasus did love him dearly. He also knew that Cyndia would always own a bit of Pegasus’ heart and there was nothing he could do about that. He could ease the man’s loneliness when he thought of her. He could make him happy and live his life and not dwell on his past.

However, whenever Pegasus would paint, he knew that neither he nor anyone else could reach him until he was done.

Seto knew this. Seto accepted this. However, this did not mean he didn’t like it or that it did hurt a bit that a dead woman would have such a hold over his lover.

However, it was not something he could help.

So, he prepared things for when Pegasus would come out. The Funny Bunny Christmas Special DVD in the player. Pink bunny marshmallow treats already out in the living room, package open. His favorite red wine in an ice bucket, uncorked, and two glasses at the ready. Whenever Pegasus was done painting, he needed something to cheer him up and Seto found these things were the best way.

“Seto?” Pegasus said questioningly as he entered the room. It had been several hours since he had started his painting.

“Hey.” Seto said, getting up from the couch, offering Pegasus a small smile, and picking up the marshmallow bunnies. “I got your favorite movie in. Come sit down.”

Pegasus shook his head. “No.” He said.

Seto paused. Pegasus never said no. It was their habit. Their ritual. He finished his painting, and then they curled up on the couch with the marshmallow bunnies and wine and watched the movie. Even if Seto hated Funny Bunny, it made Pegasus happy.

Why did he say no?

“…is something wrong?” Seto asked. Something had to be. There was no ‘no’ for this ritual.

Pegasus was silent for a few moments, staring at Seto with a look Seto couldn’t quite define. Pegasus finally walked over to Seto, gently cupping his cheek.

“Pegasus?” Seto said questioningly, not pulling away. Something was different today…

“I…want to paint you.” Pegasus said softly.

Seto was so shocked he dropped the pink bunny marshmallows.

Pegasus NEVER painted anything that didn’t have to do with Cyndia or Duel Monsters.

“What…?” Seto asked, not quite sure he heard Pegasus right.

Pegasus grinned a bit in amusement. “Is Kaiba-boy becoming hard of hearing? Now you’re too young for that. I said I wanted to paint you.”

Seto blinked a few times before smiling gently. “I…think we can do that.” He said, his heart soaring.

Pegasus smiled. “I’m happy to hear it, Seto.” He said. He looked down and gasped. “Oh my! And we wasted all those pink bunny marshmallows.” He said with an acting regret, moving to bend down to pick them up.

Seto grabbed his shoulders, stopping him mid-bend before moving to kiss him passionately.

Perhaps…that hold is finally weakening. And his is strengthening.

Seto accepted this. And he liked it.
