of a father-child reconcilitation has always been the scene in The Sound of Music where the Captain and Maria are arguing then you hear the children singing in the far off room. they go to investigate and find the children singing to the countess. the Captain gets all teary-eyed and when the song ends the children look at him wondering if he's going to yell at them but instead he grabs them up in hugs saying "it has been so long since there was music in this house." then he takes up the guitar and sings Edelweiss.

I always cry at that part of the movie.

It really upset me when the funeral piped a muzak version of Edelweiss during my father's wake and i insisted they turn it off.
