inappropriate songs for weddings

Eyup, once again we went to yet another crappy ass wedding. I rated it a D- for the crappy food (hot and sour soup that was neither hot nor sour), annoying entertainment, and HORRIBLE PARKING. We couldn't even get out until the bitter end because our car was stuck with five, six rows of cars in front of ours. The F rating still goes to the Ritz- ( Read more... )

*shrugs* I have no idea, but maybe they're the ones who have no idea that their wedding sucks? They just try to out do one another without trying to be creative or original. They also have no concept of making guests happy/comfortable. It's all about the show. Oh, there's also the annoying trend of making the wedding more "Chinese" which means more Chinese spoken and more Chinese songs even though most people are not fluent in Chinese.

Hehehe, that's cute! I actually have nothing against Star Wars music in weddings if it's a Star Wars-themed wedding. XD The problem here is that I doubt anyone involved knows the origin of these music...

The safari park we went to a few weeks back played the theme to Jurassic Park for their elephant show. It was a bit out of place, but not horrible like SW in weddings.

I really thought that anything T2 is the last thing to be used in a wedding. I guess I'm wrong because Terminator 2 is suuuuuuuuch a romantic movie.

Putting together a good wedding is equal parts doing something that you and your intended will remember fondly while at the same time ensuring that your guests have a good time. You can certainly add geekery to a wedding, but it has to be done in little dabbles instead of entire themes.

For me, I'm still hoping to find someone who will let allow us to have our first dance to the VG remix of "Zelda is in Love." That's the sort of stuff that is quite acceptable. :D

You are so right that it's part indulging yourself (or in most case your family) and part making it memorable and hopefully fun experience for your guest. The problem is they don't care about the guests nor do they know what actually makes guests happy even though most of these people have attended dozens if not hundred of weddings. I think guests are more set dressing than anything else.

As for the Star Wars theme part, I don't think they realize it's Star Wars and I'm 100% sure it's not about adding geekery/special touch to a wedding. Props to those who actually put that kind of personal touches to weddings here, but I haven't really seen it here yet. After attending these horrible weddings, I'm convinced the American weddings I've been to are so much more intimate and fun, but at least with Wid's American-educated Indo friends, they seem to know what is a good, modern wedding. It's a pretty interesting blend of Western and Eastern stuff.

For me, I'm still hoping to find someone who will let allow us to have our first dance ( ... )

The song is good if I didn't have to hear it at least once a day. The music selection from that station is terrible. Mostly country westerns with few random Dutch/German songs thrown it. Country western songs are so screwy. It's all about wanting to be a pedo, husband cheating on his wife with her best friend, wife running away with their kid, and girlfriend wants her boyfriend to leave her wife ( ... )
