*OOC -- The evening after Scott's conversation with Kitty, he heads out of town for a few days on team business, planning to rendezvous with the team at the funeral featured in X-men: Endangered Species. He says good-bye to her without mentioning the Kitty-conversation, but once he's gone and she goes back to their room, she'll find this note. ( Read more... )

Emma read the note. She was torn between being annoyed and a little guilty--she had broken his confidence.

Sighing, she went to her bedroom, sat cross-legged on the bed, and opened her link to him.

Scott? I know you're busy, but I wanted to talk to you. Emma continued, quickly, before he could say anything. She didn't like apologizing. Best to get it done quickly. I'm sorry. You're right, I shouldn't have broken your confidence. I don't think I was thinking, when I told Katherine. I am sorry. She smiled briefly. See, I can apologize.

She'd wait to yell at him about leaving a note after he forgave her.

There's an old joke Scott heard somewhere, probably from Terry Cassidy. The difference between an alcoholic and a drunk is that drunks don't have to go to all those meetings ( ... )

Oh, no, Emma said, scowling a little, though he couldn't see. You don't get to do that. You don't get to pretend that you didn't mean what you wrote. I know you, Summers. You meant it. And I'm sorry. I should have assumed, but the rules for this sort of thing are new to me, too.

Emma paused. Someone should tell Stark that mustache makes him look like Magnum PI. Not in a good way, either. Maybe you shouldn't tell him that. But think it. Just for me.

He's not here. Scott smiled. He left me to have this conversation privately -- if that's actually possible from inside a SHIELD helicarrier. And you know, I think the 'stache is kind of cute. As long as we're exploring free love. . .umm, I should probably stop now.

He sighed. And all right, you know, I kind of thought it went without saying. I don't want to feel like I'm being controlling or something, but -- you know this isn't a trade-off, right?
