"Yes," he said. Then, "No. I don't know. I thought you --"
He pointed through the window to where she on the floor. "She just came. She said she wanted to see Emma, but -- the thing is, I can't fight her. I won't be able to, if it comes to that. We've established that the Phoenix just feeds off my power; when she's not stopping it altogether." He looked down, cleared his throat. Without raising his eyes, he put a hand on Logan's shoulder, weighed everything in him that wanted to press closer against everything that didn't. He stayed in place.

A smile tugged at her lips. She breathed in the air between them and in one swift motion grasped his hand and pulled herself up and into his arms. "Logan..." She buried her face in his chest, felt his heartbeat against her cheek. It felt real.
"Where am I?" she asked, her voice muffled. She clung to him. The words she'd spoken earlier ringing in her ears...I want to stay. I always want to stay.
"Where's Scott?"

He glared at Scott. "Let the lady talk about whatever the hell she wants to talk about. She just came back from the dead, for Christ's sake." And I thought - he put up a slight mental shield, to block the thought from Jean's potentially still-probing mind - that the plan was to not piss her off.
If they kept her thinking about this - something completely inconsequential for the Phoenix - they could buy themselves more time to come up with a better plan.

"You're right, Scott," she said finally. "It's really quite funny."
She pulled her knees up to her chest and laid her chin on them. There was no trace of Phoenix. "I've missed you, too, Logan," she said, as if continuing a thought, though she'd said it to Scott maybe hours before.

Logan smiled, a little sadly. "Yeah. Same to you, Jeannie."
He looked around. They were still standing in the front yard of Jean's childhood home.
"Look, I don't wanna stand around on this fake grass. Why don't we go inside of this hologram and sit at a table or something? Talk about what's going on here."
