Hi

Dec 26, 2006 21:38

Although I have visited various live journals for a while now, this is my first LJ of my own. I understand that I should post "something", so this is that "something" (although not much of anything). I really only joined LJ because I got tired of being an anonymouse when commenting on others' LJs, and because I wanted to use some fun icons that a ( Read more... )

Yay! You were one of the last hold-outs and we've brought you over to the Dark Side now. hehehehe Email me if you have any LJ questions or anything, okay? I know you've been talking about it a little on Rrambles - that's how I knew to friend you, after all - but I had an exhausting Christmas and haven't felt up to participating in the conversations over there. Will try to catch up tonight.

Re: friending on LJ... hardcore LJers will have a note about their 'friending policy' on their profile page. I do, kind of. But most everyone is welcoming of new friends, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

P.S. - Did you ever get a Senseo coffee machine or something else like it? I've used mine maybe 5 times and now it's just gathering dust.

Thanks for the offer. I decided a holiday weekend was the time to finally do those computer-related things I've been meaning to do -- install Firefox and get an LJ account. So far so good, but lots of newness to absorb. I may bug you if I can't get things figured out.

I hope your Christmas was exhausting in a good way. I enjoyed having a very low key, peaceful one. Long phone calls to family, then a DVD marathon. My older cat loved it, he had a lap for hours. :)

I haven't gotten a Senseo yet. If I do, it will gather dust because it won't be for me, just any coffee drinking visitors (who by now don't expect coffee at my place).

Ann Marie, I friended you too. I have had an account forever and never posted to my own until this morning, LOL. After seeing everyone tell you to post something, I thought I had better post something as well. Welcome to the wonderful place that is lj.

Welcome! I hope we can convince you to comment on other things too, since I know you participate in lots of wonderful public service activities, Cyked! Plus, if you take a look at some of my friends, you will see there are many varied interests represented beyond the world of fanfiction, from avid cat lovers, to breast cancer survivors and fundraising walkers, political commentators, you name it. Although I confess, the fanfiction does predominate, the other interests of many of these bright folks seeps in and really is a lot of fun to read about.

Heck, SOME of us are even lawyers, imagine that! LOL!

Glad you are jumping into the world of LJ!

Arwen

Hi!
I wouldn't say "lots", I'm actually pretty lazy. I'm going to take the LJ thing slowly so I don't get overwhelmed with reading a lot of posts, mainly stick to my fandoms (QAF, X-Men) first and the people I meet through those. I spend too much time on the computer as it is, mainly reading political blogs. But I just can't get myself to cut back.

Who's the, uh, ball-player in your icon? Niiiice body.

Hmmm, can't remember which one I used, lol! If it is the soccer player, I am not sure who he is, but he reminds me of "Danny" although of course not as handsome as that O'Keefe man. But since Danny was a soccer player, it seems apropos for when I post about updates on Better Friends. Now this one is Blondrunner, finishing the Phila. Distance Run last year. He wasn't happy with his time but I told him he should looked good, which should have counted for something. He and I have different priorities. :)
I LOVE X-Men! Gambit was always one of my favorites, of the newer ones, and of course, Angel from the original five. How about you?

Huge Cyclops fan. I'm far more of a DC than a Marvel fan, but Cyclops is my all time favorite character. I'm also very fond of Angel. Less so of Gambit, but mainly because of all the fanfic writers, some even good, who just have to right his dialog phonetically. Gag me. The very first fanfiction I ever read was X-Men. Fortunately, the writer was one of the best in that fandom, which has led to my unfortunate fanfic addiction. She has a great series featuring Scott/Cyclops, but with a bisexual Warren/Angel who falls in love with Scott. Warren's very appealing in the story, but unluckily for him, Scott's straight.

Glad to see you here :) As Jen said, welcome to the Dark Side.

LJ's fun, but like most places, it has it's quirky folk...meh! I figure if I just play nicely in the sandbox, most other people will do the same LOL

*points at your icon* Who is that little hottie?

That's James Marsden, playing Cyclops in X-Men 3. Definitely hot, although still not my mental image of Cyclops. But Marsden has beautiful bright blue eyes, which you never got to see in the movies.
